Well our IPMS chapter here has theme nights on even months. This months theme is WW1. Since I did not have anything even remotely WW1 in my stash, I hurried to ebay and purchased this $4.00 kit just so I could bring something to the meeting.
Now I have 0 experience building WW1 aircraft. So I did some research on the rigging, weathering and if they had a gloss, semi, or flat finish. I got alot of reference from theaerodome.com.
Here is the result of my 4 day build and first attempt at building a early type aircraft.
For 1/48 scale this thing was tiny.
I added the rigging and the elevator support struts from reference photos and to give it a little bit of life. Overall I actually enjoyed this build. more WW1 era aircraft will definately be in my near future,
That’s a nice looking build. Love the color scheme, and the rigging looks nice & tight like it should. One small observation though, and it concerns the landing gear. From here, it appears to have been installed backwards. Should be an easy fix. I’m glad you enjoyed your first of what I hope will be many bipes.
Oh man you are right ruddratt. I assembled it per the instructions. after looking at pics of the real deal it is indeed on backwards. Well I that’s what you get for 4 bucks I guess. But thanks for the heads up.
