1:48 scale Tamiya Tiger tank

Good evening all,
I’m new to modelling Armor. I recently purchased the Tamiya 1:48 scale Tiger tank as my first purchase. I have been getting frustrated with putting the tracks together. Does anyone know if there are tracks made of vinyl for 1:48 scale? I have seen 1:35 tracks in vinyl but am looking for those in 1:48. Thanks for any help I can get.

Sorry, you’re out of luck. The only after market tracks available are individual links cast in resin. Your only hope for vinyl track is to find someone who is going to replace the ones in the forthcoming Skybow Tigers.

You want to replace the kit track sections with vinyl? This is a first. There are at least 3 firms out there marketing individual link resin tracks for this vehicle, but none that I know of in vinyl.

Well, he does say he’s new to armor modeling. Assembling links for a tank can be frustrating.

John, my suggestion is take it slow and closely follow the directions, as these are about as easy as individual links get for a tank kit, though I’m sure that’s little consolation. What specifically are you having problems with?

The Skybow 1/48th scale tigers will have vinyl tracks, but you won’t want to buy the whole kit to wrap the tracks around your Tamiya kit.

Good advice from Larry.
As he said, those Tamiya tracks are as easy as they get.

Perhaps you can order the vinyl tracks from Skybow when they come out.
Or better yet, if you’re still having trouble, I’ll give you the vinyl tracks from my Skybow kit when I get one!

Get Tamiya 1/35 armour or Trumpeter one,all using vinyl tracks! Strap it on,as easy as that…

Hi Brian, aren’t the SKYBOW kits available in Japan yet?

Frank

Still haven’t seen 'em yet, Frank!
Waiting…waiting…

Using 1/35th scale tracks on a 1/48th scale kit is probably not a good idea.

I’ve just received my examples from a Hong Kong source, only took five days from there to the UK.

Great! Hope you like them!

Frank
