1/48 scale pilots/ground personel

Does anybody know where to find 1/48 scale figures? I would like to find some pilots/ ground personel for a diorama. I have read about people converting model railroad figures for use, but I would rather find some ready to go.[?]

Squadron has them. WWW.squadron.com

Saw them in thismonths flyer. Metel and plastic.

Hasegawa has some great sets out, including Carrier deck crew, AF personnel, equipment, etc. I recently picked up their Ground Crew Set A, and it’s pretty comprehensive if you want to do a maintenance dio.

Hasegawa has a set of USAF and a set of USN ground crew available in that scale, though I don’t know what material they are. Resin sets are also available from aftermarket companies. In any case you’ll probably have to dig around a bit to find the right ones.

Check your locally owned hobby shop. If you your local place doesn’t carry them, they’re available on-line.

I’ve seen the Hasegawa sets, but I was looking more for WWII stuff. My bad-I should’ve specified.

As I know, it the couple od weeks Eduard will do Luftwaffe personel. Regards ! Aleksander

Hawegawa once produced a 1/48 WW II pilots kit set which contained pilots from Germany, USA, UK and Japan. Each nation had a sigle pose standing pilot figure.

Few months ago ICM, released a RAF Pilots and Ground Personnel. According to report, this kit contains 7 figures(amount them one female) in various poses and a dog plus lots of accessories including table, chair, glass bottles, ladders and jerry cans. Each figure is broken down into 6-7 parts. There is also an equivalent Russian Pilot set.

Hey Day,
You may also want to check w/ Verlinden(www.verlinden-production.com),Warriors and I think Reheat Models does 1/48th figures. I want to say British amd American pilots from WWII. There are a few others but at the moment the names escape me[:(][;)]
The other mfgs that were mentioned are good choices as well .Good luck my friend.
Flaps up, Mike

The best, in my opinion, are the Preiser Luftwaffe day fighter pilot and ground crew set. Squadron has them along with a modern day German pilot and ground crew set which can be used to depict the Blackmen. Be sure you choose the 1/48 sets, and not the 1/72 items, they are identical except for the scale. If you can’t find them there, check the Walthers’ train catalog. They have all kinds of Preiser figure sets in several scales.
As far as doing other nations, the Japanese companies offer nice stuff for more money. Then you have the resin figures starting at too much:)

The quality of the ICM RAF personnel kit is very good, i just bought it.

Are you looking for any particular country? The older release of the monogram B-17 use to come with a bunch of 1/48 scale personel. I still have a bunch of them in my spares box. They are pretty cool. There is a mechanic with a wrench in his hand a crew member standing smoking a cigarette and a couple of other figures. I do not plan on using them. I just counted them I have 22 figures in all not including about another twenty pilots seated.Drop me an email at killsnapz420@yahoo.com if you are interested. Soulcrusher

Daywalker;

Well I know the old Monogram models had ground crews & flight crews in there 1/48 scale Bombers and also the P-61, ICM has Luftwaffe, Russian, RAF & U.S.A.A.F personnel sets, Hasegawa has modern U.S.A.F. & U.S.N. personnel, Italeri has Modern Flight Line set with Figures

Preiser also has a USAF figure set that is pretty good. I think I have all the sets already mentioned in this thread along with a couple more. It’s always good to have a nice collection of figures and equipment for doing dios.

This is about 1/10 of my 1/48 figure collection.
