wheres the best place to source 4 1/48 pheonix missiles from?
There are sets of 1/48 scale aircraft ordinance available through mail order.
If you want to save some $$ and willing to expand your skills try scratch building them. Mount a round piece of styrene in a electric drill, once it turns without wobbles sand to the desired shape. The fins can be cut out of extra brass PE or tin.
Once you are comfortable using a drill this way its a handy tool to scribe tire / rubble wheel separations, sanding anything round to be rounder and of course scratch building ammunition, gun barrels ect.
First, I’d ask aroung to see if anybody had some they were willing to trade, sell or give away.
One of Hasegawa’s 1:48 weapons sets has them, but they can be hard to find and pricey.
I’d also suggest looking for an older Monogram 1:48 F-14A kit which includes four Phoenix missles. There are lots of them around and they can be picked up rather inexpensively.

I have two I could give away but not four.
If memory serves, a Tomcat’s max payload of all Phoenix was 6.
But of course I dont know your plans for 8 of them…[hdphns]
they wouldnt be going on a tomcat 
and yeh the maximum a tomcat could carry was 6 but iirc it had to get rid of at least 1 to land on a carrier
