So i have a 1/48 scale Kiowa Warrior, i am trying to find some off yellow number for the tail. Little backstory, i was deployed to Iraq in 2006 with a Kiowa unit. One of our pilots was KIA and i finally found a model to do in his honor. I am wanting to put the tail number he was in on it. The kit i have only has black numbers and i will be painting the model black since that is what our birds were.

If you have a color laser or inkjet printer, you can purchase decal paper, in your case get the white version not clear, print what you want on it, spray an acrylic clear coat over it, and it works exactly like a normal decal. I’ve done this many times, it works great and gives you ultimate control.
The other option, but more complex one, is to find someone with a vinyl cutter/printer and create your own mask (this is on my Christmas list). The is the ultimate solution as painting on is always superior to a decal for many reasons.
