Greetings to all: This is my first entry into the forum…here goes. I have decided to use fishing line for the antenna on my aircraft. What diameter would be appropriate? Thanks much. Captain
First, Welcome to the Forums [#welcome].
I use 2lb., .005 " (.13mm) diameter.

Welcome to the insanity…
If the sewing shop is closer than the tackle shop… the dark colored invisible thread is great too. essentially a monofilimnet line like fishing line.
Thanks very much…the other related question I had is…what should I use as far as color for the antenna…steel or silver? or neither?? cap
I use human hair…
I and others use a black marker. However, you should consult a reference to determine what was on the actual plane.
I heard that invisible thread is pretty handy since it is shrinking with heat and does not react to humidity variations. I used a human hair once but its reaction to humid is a bit annoying …
I do not know what the trick with human hair is to prevent it
Some of us are short on hair and have to use other methods.[:O]

What color hair ? Blonde, Brunette or Redhead ? [:D]
Regards, Rick
For those who wish to know:
Blonde is the most susceptible to humidity variations, followed by red, brunette, and black. Basically, the darker the hair, the less it changes with humidity.
Most wire aircraft antennas are black, or at least a dark color.
Of course, someone will now tell us that the FlutzenSpanker 456, Mk2.3, version A, had yellow antennas.
But, I’ve worked on wire antennas on military aircraft back in my NAV/AV days, and black will be a pretty safe color.
While we’re at it, an alternative to fancy-schmantzy thread and yanking out hair is stretched sprue.
Yes, using stretched sprue for antennas is like yanking hair, IMVHO.
Well given the amount of aircraft ya been showin off, i’m thinking there must be alot of bald people around you now! [;)]
I don’t think my wife would like me to go hunting for a red head or a brunette to finish my project. “but honey…I read it on the web…really.”
