1:48 Revellogram B-17F WIP pix *UPDATED*

This is my B-17F, 90% of theinterior is scratchbuilt, including the entire radio room and waist gunners’ compartment. This stage of construction was actually finished about 2 monthsago, but Ijust got my Photobucket account working again. Now the kit is about 80% finished, and I’m planning on painting it over Christmas Break. Anyway, here’s the pics:

The cockpit:

Navigator’s station

scratchbuilt radio room parts

finished radio room bulkheads

Hopeyou guys like it!

as usual, any comments/corrections/constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.[:D]

looks great!! What did you use on the interior walls? I like it and it adds another bit of detail that I hadn’t thought of. I have a -24 in my stash and hopfully santa is bringing a -17 soon. Love the looks of the WWII bombers!!

Thanks for sharing,

Matt

Thanks for your input, guys! The sidewalls are made with a few different techniques. the stringers are just lines scribed with a knife, like making raised panel lines, while the vertical framing is evergreen strip. the insulation is just kleenex wetted down and attached with white glue, as is the bombsight cover-a detail that is a win-win: it makes it so you don’t have to detail the sight, and most B-17s had their sights covered or removed while on the ground, since it was still top secret during the war.

Nice work, Jaypack. Has anyone here ever re-scribed the panel lines on this kit? I built it again last year with my son and looked like it would be a huge undertaking. (Wishing for a Trumpeter B-17 that cost the same as the RM - I know, dream on. . .)

Impressive work, I take my hat off to you.[tup]

Oh my!!! That is some fine detail work there sir. How’d you get your eyes uncrossed after that?

actually, the B-17 was built with many overlapping panels, meaning that arguablythe raised lines are correct.

Astounding detail work on the B-17. Your patience far exceeds mine.

As long as you are at it, that is detailing the interior, you may as well add the relief tube! Great stuff so far. I’m looking forward to the finished product.

hhhwhooaa!! thats amazing. good job so far bro. keep us posted on the progress

Here’s a few more pictures that were taken a little later in the build.

I’ll try to get some current pics up soon.

By the way, thanks for all the replies![:D]
