1/48 Revell P-61 Complete

I just located these pics of the last kit I completed before I took many years away from modeling as I just didnt have the time. Built OOB and went with the green and gray paint scheme over the black and tried to add some weathering. I remember this one being a tough fit and all of the glass was a good challenge!

The weathering is very realistic and convincing, especially where the paint is peeling.

Cool subject and good looking build. Ive heard this kit is a bear.

Looks great! Weathering is very nice.

Looking good, Jack! The '-61 is my favorite plane of all time and it looks like you did it some justice. I know that Monogram kit is a challenge but it can be built into a good looking model as you just demonstrated. It’s a good kit to hone your modeling skills for sure (puttying, sanding, weathering, etc).

I’ve built eight of those Black Widows so far. In my stash, I have the Great Wall Hobby P-61. I heard it was a fairly decent kit so I can’t wait to give that one a try. It’s going to be weird having a P-61 kit where the canopy actually fits well! LOL!

Very good job on this hard to build kit. I especially like the color scheme and weathering.[Y]

Excellent! Absolutely excellent!

Your friend, Toshi

I’ll second John about your weathering and chipping, Jack! Nice finish on a classic Monogram [;)] kit!

All of my best techniques started as accidents. I did this to another model and ruined the finish. For this one I did the same thing on purpose. Enamel aluminum base and acrylic olive drab over the top. Then use tape you “should not use” to mask normally and pull it off for effect lol! I also used a lot of silver colored pencil for rivets etc. Thanks for the encouraging commments everyone.

Darn fine job on that Black Widow! That paint job is incredible.

That’s a very nice job on that kit.[Y]

Really nice work!!! Started on the Monogram kit but never finished it.
