From the movie “Always”, my A-26 Fire Eater. I’ve been wanting to build this plane ever since I saw the movie. A little cheesy, but some awesome flying scenes and beautiful aircraft. I want to do the PBY but way too much scratch work for my skill level. For this, I was kind of dissappointed as cloudy all weekend so I couldn’t get the pics I wanted. Hopefully I can edit them in here tomorrow in the sun with a nice background. Check it out.

Really nice look. Don’t sell the cloudy weather short. It produces a softer, well balanced light. It really shows off the great detail work, even under the wings and fuselage. Rick

What’s the story with the wheels? Did you drill out the holes between the spokes? Please share because they look great. [B] [:)]
Not up front, they already went through. On the rear I did drill out the spokes to give them more depth. I also flattened the tires a little with a trusty bic lighter. I’m not completely done, I want to take the air brush and hit the leading edged with some smoke, blowing toward the plane from the fronf. I figured those guess get down in the mess, gotta be some smoke stains on those planes.

I like your A-26. The markings even look authentic to the movie. Did you make those markings yourself or is there a sheet available? Great job!
Decals are by Mike grant. http://www.mikegrantdecals.com/ He does the A-26 and the PBY. You have to email for the to see if he has a run or not, he doesn’t show them on his site.

Nice work on the A-26. I’ve been getting the bug to do one recently, too.
I am pretty good friends with George Miller who did the models for the movie. The models were about 20 feet in span and flying, of course. I think he built 6 or 8 of them, some of which were exploded in the air, and one got lost in some smoke and crashed. You can’t fly it if you can’t see it. Many of the A-26’s that were used for fire work had cuffed leading edges like a Robertson conversion to make them behave better at low speeds, they were pretty hot as they came from the factory. The one in Always had that conversion, but it looks better without it.

Not sure why I never saw this post. Man, I’d love to get one of those movie models, what a treat. I also don’t know how I didn’t see the cuffed leading edges but too late now. Would be a good project for someone good at casting resin. I found a good website that explains the cuffed wings and has a lot of pics to boot. Great site, wish I had found this earlier. Got one more A-26 to do in an OD green WWII scheme with the 8 gun nose. This is one of my favorite kits, I really enjoy building them.

Revell has re-released the A-26B with the solid nose and both turrets that can be done in a NMF scheme or a firebomber scheme.
