Anybody know an online site that I can find and order a set of decals for a 1/48 Red Arrows bird? Ive tried Two Bobs and done a google search but drawing a blank. Im building Premiers Hawk and while it has potential It needs ALOT of work. The decals with the kit literaly fall apart trying to apply the them. I dont know how to fix this and probably wouldnt be able to find the supplies Id need here anyways. I was/am kicking around the idea of just starting over with the Airfix kit but Ive already started this one and dont like the idea of giving up on a kit once started…
I built the Airfix Hawk last month. For around ten pounds sterling, look on it as a set of decals with a free kit! VW Mars red is near enough the right colour for a ‘sparrow’ by the way (I was based at Scampton) I used acrylic car spray. The red doesn’t ‘bleed’ through the white stripes of the Airfix decals.
You can always build the Airfix kit as a trainer, they look great in black, & there’s a 74sqn decal set available with a huge tiger on the tail.
Ah, just found that article, it was the ID models 1/32nd scale Hawk & the decals were homemade (SAMI October 2000) but it does look good. Maybe there’s a 1/48th version of those markings available by now.

The idea of buying the Airfix kit and swapping decals has appealed to me but my usual source for models EvilBay is giving me problems not allowing me to search for items. I can access all other parts of the site I just cant search for auctions… Still googling for an online store that has the kit.
