1:48 RAF fort

I finally got some pictures of this fort I built about two and a half years ago, it’s 1:48 G converted as best as I could figure to what was used by 214Squ forts for what I guess were the early days of electronic warfare. the nose turret was replaced by H2s radar and the bombbay was stuffed with radar jamming equipment if I’m remembering right. ballturret was removed, antennas added including the towel rack in the tail, there’s some sort of equipment in the nose as seen throught the nose glass, this was a best guess. It was inspired by the book “a thousand shall fall” by Murray Pendin which is where all my photo references came from a details in the book that I guessed on the plane (like bottom halves of the cockpit windows being blacked out, not that you can see that in the picture) I also was posting this 'cause I saw bigfoot back here and I’m pretty sure he offered a radome from a lancaster when I was looking for one though a look thorugh old e-mails showed “dogsbody” beat him to it, so thanks to both.

Good job. First time I’ve seen a Fortress in RAF markings (must get out more…)

Looks great,

Roy

Which kit is that? The Revell or Monagram?

Roy

Great work on the 'Fort! Nice to see different markings on her. Thanks for sharing! [tup]

Very nice I like seeing A/C in unusual schemes. You did a fine job on that one.

Nice one. Looks good in RAF livery. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

I love it…great build and nice subject

Great job on the conversion. It’s nice to see a B-17 in something besides the usual OD/NG or NMF!

Thanks guys, it’s the Monogram kit. I had really good photos of another fort with really cool nose are of the devil, E for Easy, but it has the Chyenne tail turret, I half wished I had tracked down a conversion and done that one but I guess every bomber can’t have nose art. The crews of these things were always worried about getting fired at by Lancs and Halifaxes in the bomber stream because those guys weren’t used to seeing a huge single vertical stab at night.

Wow! This is the first RAF B-17 I have seen, and I LOVE it! Your work is immaculate as well, you should be justifiably proud of your work! The scratchbuilt details add so much authenticity. Thanks a million for sharing!
