1/48 PV-1 finished pg2

Here’s Revell’s PV-1 that I’ve been building the past week…

Got the first coat of Gull Gray on the bottom, but havent taken pics. Comments critiques questions welcome…

Hey Josiah, I have a comment for you…WOW! Great job man! That is a sweet looking kit and you are doing it proud! The cockpit is great! I have the 1/72 PV-1, but I now KNOW I want the 1/48 too! Man I can’t wait to see this baby finished! Awesome work man!

Thanks for checking in Eagle!

I was gonna hold off on commenting on the kit until it was finished, but I’ll do so now that all I have to do is finish painting and minor stuff like doors and bombs…

If you have the opportunity to get this kit. GET IT. Even at regular price $30 it’s a bargain compared to other modern kits. I got this one on the 40% off shelf at hobby lobby so it was an even better deal.

Other than the great value, the kit is amazing, I used minimal putty on the entire kit, in fact I think I used less putty on this one than I did on my older Tamiya A6M3. It fits great and the detail in the bombay and landing wells are good. The turret and the bottom gun leave a lot to be desired since you can see through pretty well but I didn’t mess with that. The cockpit is pretty simple but again, I didn’t mess with it because it was sufficient for me.

If you try to do a conversion to some different plane other than a PV-1 that has a clear nose where the bombadier sits (the kit’s nose is a clear piece) than you’ll need to get an AM interior (i dont actually know if there is one) or do A LOT of scratchbuilding.

All in all, I think it’s a wonderful kit especially when you consider how low of a price you can pick it up for. I will definitely be building another one of these in the future. And you should definitely pick this 1/48 one up if you have even a small part of you that is considering building this plane.

I’m sold man! And I’m glad you mentioned Hobby Lobby. We are going to see family in Florida for 3 weeks and there are a couple of those around my mom’s house! So, I’ll have them save the coupons and I will be looking for the PV-1 for sure.

I don’t go uber crazy on AM stuff or super detailing. Sounds like your building it the same way I would! I was going to ask about the fit but you beat me to it. It sounds like a great kit and there WILL be one in the stash soon.

Great review your doing too! It’s great to get a good review from someone who is in the middle of the build. Thanks for sharing and again, great work man!

Nice work! It sounds like the Accurate Miniatures Avengers, you have to build one not because it’s something you’re totally into, but because it’s a pleasure to build.

Glad I could help Eagle…I look forward to seeing your build!!

Mississippi…I was not aware that that was the case, I’ve been off the forums for too long I guess, I’ll have to check it out…thanks for stopping by.

I got my PV-1 at Hobby Lobby for 40% off as well. I am enjoying this WIP thread so far. May I ask why the"skittles" approach to the instrument panel?

Nice looking build so far.

Thanks for looking in Carlos and Bish…

Carlos, I just wanted to give the cockpit a little pop, not much will be seen in there and thought it’d look a bit better if the IP was something other than white.

Got all the main painting done…I obviously have some touch up painting to do to get the lines less jagged.

Dang you work quick Josiah! It’s coming along nicely!

Great paint job! You have a really nice build going there!

Thanks guys.

Carlos…that’s what happens when it’s summer and you’re a college athlete recovering from a broken foot…lots of downtime…ALSO I looked up a thread from last October about PV-1 painting advice and you answered my question about paints before I had to ask it and the colors are perfect so thanks!

Yeah, when I was around your age I would build a kit in a weekend.

I have that kit in my stash. Been waiting impatiently to get other projects done so I can slap 'er on the bench.

She’s a good one, you’ll enjoy her.

Here’s this one finished up for now, haven’t been able to weather it at all yet, that’ll come a couple months later.

Looking good!

Thanks for looking in John

The snow around the finished build gives a nice look there. The basic finish is nice and clean. I look forward to the weathered photos whenever you get a chance to do those.
