Hi theres guys! after a wile I just finish my roden´s Mohawk, well I still have to add some details such as antennas, pitot, lights… and the two doors of the wheel well as I lost this 2 things, I belive when I was cleaning my bech (wich is also the living room table LOL) I maybe throw them in to the trash, I will have to scratch build a repacement (or maybe I will write to roden and see if they can helpme) anyway the kit is almost finished and I wanna tke some pics for you before the night.
The model is painted in Argentinian army aviation corps, a special conmemorative scheme of the 10 years of service.
The kit was fun to build, but almot all the parts present flash, and the fit of the clear parts isn´t the best, algo you will have to add large amounts of weight to prevent a tail sitter.
I add some scratch building items to the cockpit and harness to the ejection seat
I use aftermarket decals (Aerocalcas) wich performed flawless but good references (pictures) of the real thing are necesary since the decals instructions have some omitions and errors, the stencils are from the kit´s sheet and show some silvering (even over future) all the wing walks are painted…
The paints used were custom mixed (in the pictures looks a little bit more dark than in person) weathering was done in a subtle way because this planes were more well manteined
Hope you like it and as usually any comments or critics will be wellcome
Very well done Jeremias! I have never seen one in this scheme before. I like the feathered props, did the kit give you that as an option, or did you do it yourself? Nice detail work all around. Thanks for sharing! [:D]
beautiful build Jeremias! i’ve been wanting to get that Roden Mohawk for some time now since i saw it on FSM about 2 years ago. sadly i can’t find that kit here in my country and ordering online requires a credit card.
Thanks a lot guys! glaad you like it… I´m happy with the model too
Frank: the props came as 3 individual parts and a separate spinner so you can build it in the position you want, but still if this weren´t that way I allways cut the props on a turbo to asambly in the feathered position
Jeremy: go for it and build an Argie aircraft! there are plenty of options of “common” aircrafts to build in argentinian markings such as the F-86, F-4U5 Corsair, A-4C/B, T-6 Texan, T-28, Catalina, Lancaster, Tracker, Neptune, P-3 Orion, the Mohwak and the listo go on and on… You have the option of builing a plane designed here too! as the Pucara -special hobby & airfix 1/72 and now Aconcagua 1/48(resin), AT-63 Pampa II 1/48 (resin), Pulqui I Alliance 1/72 resin, etc etc… if you decide to build one some day emailme and I can help with references, pics, and where to ge the decals…
Zeke: Isn´t a rare kit so maybe if you try to contact a few hobby stores there someone must have a kit… If they don´t you can try to buy it on ebay, many sellers recive western unionm payment, and no credict card id needed.
Oh no wasn’t a pilot Jeremias, I was Air Defense in the Active Army 21 years. We drilled a lot with the Mohawks and A-10 Thunderbolts. It was phased out pretty early in my Army life though some were still going in Germany. That and the Good old Bronco’s which towed targets for us. I remember the crews telling us about the radar looked sideways whatever that meant. The radom looked almost like an offset torpedo slung underneath.
