1;48 oh-58 a kiowa

hi guys,im now starting to build my helos, and i will be doing more.i stared with the kiowa, semms easy enoufgt, have the cockpit built and i gust to paint it,in side it says cromate?is that for all the area not painted light grey?i will keep you posted on how im doing, but need an answer about the cromate.thanks guy for all your help.

You are correct. Inside the cabin should be gray, not chromate. Inside the engine compartment and any other open panels would be chromate green or chromate yellow.

thanks Gino, your the man,.

If you are building the Italeri kit the directions are pretty good in this area(I’m building it myself right now), also I would use the green chromate, I saw very little yellow chromate used on Army aircraft when I was in

This is the rear area of an Australian Kiowa.

thanks guys,i am doing the the Italeri kit ,and so far so good,harvs73 thanks for the pic,i went the way of the gunship.and im useing the green cromate. have a great build guys.

hi guys,i have just posted some pics of the kiowa, this is the 1;;72 helo i have built,so tell me

what you think.i will post more pics as i go along. thanks guys.[:)]

Ours were cockpit black for NVG use in the front office and grey in the back.

IIRC Dark Ghost Grey is very close to the color for the back seat, and Model Master cockpit black is fine for the front office.

One day we had a competition between crewcheifs for a three day pass --best looking bird and most knowledgable cc. Used lots of black spray paint and brasso to polish (yeah then dull them right back down for NVG use!!) on the cocppit switches and all the kickpanels. They looked great, until you got init the first time and put nice dusy bootprints all over the floor!

Early cockpits were gray
