1:48 Me262`s

Hi all

Has anybody tried cross kitting the Tamiya and Dragon kits at all. I recently picked up three Dragon 262`s at a very cheap price. (Mistel, V056, and jabo).

Im in the process of building one of these, the bomber, and quite honestly the Condor He178 that Im building at the same time is going together alot easier than these and the 178 is a limited run kit with all the associated problems but a lot less parts.

Before I bin the Dragon kits into a dark recess in the loft as insulation, a thought has occurred to me. The detail in these kits is quite good and filled with lots of extras, e.g the V056 has two Jumo 004s and extra 30mm guns etc, and I quite fancied using a Dragon kit with the glazed nose as the upper part for the mistel, using one of the TWO standard fuselages in the mistel kit for the lower and saving the bomb fuselage for a Luft46 project, but if I can cut off the relevant bits and mate them onto a Tamiya kit, I will probably save myself a load of hard work. Or has anybody made a conversion set for the Tamiya kit?

Awaiting your views and comments Gary

There is an article in the May edition of Scale Aviation Modeller International which grafts the nose of the Dragon Me 262A-2a/U2 to the Tamiya kit.

You can buy SAM at Barnes & Noble, just an FYI[:D] Good luck grafting that bad boy… sounds like a good idea to me

Careful, SAM - Scale Aircraft Modelling and SAMI - Scale Aviation Modeller International are two different magazines. SAMI is the one with the article.

Good catch! Thanks!
