1/48 Lakenheath Eagle

Hey, y’all, hope everyone is well and safe. I’m not locked down yet, but I managed to finish a Revell (Monogram, cough, cough) Strike Eagle in the D-Day 75th commemorative markings from last June. Colors are Gunze and Testors Metalizer. Furball decals provides the markings. You can build any of the three marked aircraft with their sheet. You will, however, have to paint the stripes. They turned out being about a quarter inch wide for both the wings and fuselage. I ended up cracking the canopy while removing the paint masks, so I’ll have to find a replacement. I can’t say enough good things about the kit, it’s truly a great value for the detail and fit.

Great Job!! The Eagle looks good in stripes

Very nice work! A super clean build!

Nice clean lines. Looks sharp. Well done!

Ditto, ditto, ditto…great looking Strike Eagle!

Thanks, y’all!

Great looking Eagle, i like the finish.

Really cool scheme. Great looking bird

Love those commemorative markings,great job.

Thanks, y’all! Here’s the real deal in action:

Spent some time at Lakenheath with F-111s, TR-1s, and SR-71s.

Spent more time at Bentwaters with the A-10, good times and a nice job on the Eagle !

I was amazed how big the Eagle was the first time I worked on one.

That sounds like the 80’s when those birds were there. Those F-111s disappeared kinda quietly from the scene.

Replaced by Strike Eagles in the early 90’s. And the wing went composite, a mix of strike squadrons with F-15Es and air superiority fighter squadrons with F-15Cs.

Very nice work. [t$t]
