Hi everyone I have been working on this today it’s my latest effort and probably my best effort yet. I still have to add the weapons. It’s the SU-35 in 1/48th scale I used Migs pre mixed flanker colours although and Alclad 2, AK Extreme metal and Tamiya clear colours for heat staining. I airbrushed various shades of brown and used a Flory models dark dirt wash. All comments are welcome and I hope you enjoy the photos.
So I’m calling this finished I was looking at missiles to arm the Flanker with but I then realised I had attached the wrong pylons and I just don’t have the will to remove the existing ones and cleaning up the area and replacing them. So I’m happy with this I might at some point arm the Flanker up but for now I’ll leave it be. I’m actually surprised the Tornado is as large as it is side by side I assumed the Tornado was a good bit smaller but hey there you go, so the Flanker joined the top shelf of my display with the Shuttle F-4 and Tornado.
Nice build! How do you like the Flory washes? I just got some but haven’t used them yet.

I really like them they work really well I basically mush the wash around all over the model with a brush so it looks like it’s covered in mud I suppose in a way it is as they’re clay based. But there’s no messing around using corròsive liquids to remove excess I use a damp paper towel with water literally mostly dry and use that to remove excess and it works better than anything else I’ve tried so I’ll be getting more for sure it’s well worth it. I always had issues getting panel lines highlighted in older kits but this stuff works well the Tornado had panels highlighted with a Vallejo wash and by comparison it’s nowhere as good as you can probably see.
Thanks for the info! I’m looking forwar to giving it a try on my current build. I like the idea of no chemicals and ease of use.

Just let the solution dry completely before removing it believe me you could remove all.of it once dry so there’s no risk to the paint as long as the surface is glossy obviously I’m sure I didn’t have to say but I think it does work on Matt surfaces if you want a really dirty finish but I’ve not tried that.
Kitwrecker, How was this kit to build? I seem to struggle with Kitty Hawk kits. But I must say, the ones I have attempted were earlier Kittyhawk kits. I never finished either of them. They ened up in the oval file cabinet. Just wondering how a newer Kittyhawk kit goes togther.

Flory washes are great. Love the camo on this aircraft. The canopy frames are black and not that turquoise color?
The inside is I sprayed that but the outside is the black anti glare. The old SU-27 Flankers done have the black anti glare around the canopy just the SU-35 does even through they’re almost exactly the same shape but here is the photo is a picture of the interior colour of the coccpit/canopy frame.
The Mig 31 has a darker blue and Su-25 has a similar shade again as far as I am aware the only Russian aircraft to have a grey interior cockpit is the Mig 29. Some trivia here the Russians painted the turquoise/blue interiors as the colour the same as scrubs on doctors if you notice are designed to reduce stress levels so the pilot is calmer when flying, whether it works only a guy who flew Russian and Western jets could answer but that is what I’ve managed to read up on. Maybe I’m wrong on that but it sounds plausible and I didn’t find any other answers.
Makes sense. It’s an awesome build. I also saw your A-10 on another thread. Can’t believe you produced such a great model in such a short time span. I don’t know how you do it. You’ve been a very busy modeler havent you?
Lol not exactly I’ve been working from home due to lockdown since March last year and my model making desk is directly behind my work desk and the A-10 was a one off. There’s no way I’m.doing that again. The Flanker took around 3 months as to be honest after staring at a computer all day I don’t want to do detailed work lol.
I read you could literally leave the stuff on for days before cleaning it up with no problems.
