Hi all,
I just finished a LONG journey. I got the Ju 388 K/L conversion from Heritage Models ages ago from my wife for Christmas 2 year ago and after learning how to work with white metal I finally had the guts to try and mate it to a Cyberhobby Ju 88 A I had in my stash. (Hajo Hermann’s Ju 88 A-5 will have to wait a little longer now)
I special thanks to “real G” aka Neal, who came through HUGE with the styrene card punched silica packs which are on every window pane.
The cockpit is mostly scratchbuilt since the cockpit from Heritage is just as bad as the offering from Special Hobby- of course I only see it as bad thanks to ChuckW’s build! So I basically copied it from him.
The diorama base is a thin coat of spackel, followed by air dried clay, then painted every brown color I have in a completely random camoflage style, then parts sprayed with Elemer’s out of a can, and train modeling “fine turf” sprinkled over that, and finally “Khaki grass” and “Dark Earth” Tamiya ground effects.
The figures are from a “Wellington” set from CMK. In the right colors I find that RAF and Luftwaffe figures are interchangeable, as long as they are not in dress uniforms.
I HIGHLY recommend trying Heritage’s conversion to be found at “Kitsforcash.com” Its so much cheaper than the Special Hobby offering, and the only drawback is drilling out all the white metal parts.
regards
Jan
