a fellow aviation junkie from school has a italeri 1/48 F-22 that he wants to build. not me building for him but he wants me to teach him to build it ! [:D] apart from the bad instruction i will no doubt provide, what else should i be aware of ? fit ? i dont think accuracy will be a big issue.
thanks !
I built this kit earlier this year in its Revell Germany form. I’m told that both kits were cast from the same molds. Here’s the link to my buildup thread:

Unfortunately, the pics are no longer on my website, as I’m very space limited.
It’s not too bad a kit if you’re a patient person. The intakes are an absolute beeeeeyatch to fill and sand so that they look proper. Lots of compound curves. The seam that runs laterally along the back of the plane (the top of the fuselage where the foreward part joins the aft part) is also a rough one. If you fill and sand to get the seam level, you lose the etching of the panel lines. Also, the pair of access panels that they leave open aren’t accurate detail wise, and if you try to build them closed, the fit of the doors into the recesses is attrocious. Lots of filling/sanding/rescribing involved there.
I still have all the buildup pics and finished pics on my computer at home. I can send a few to you if you like, just let me know.
