1/48 Hobbycraft A-10A?

Anyone familier with this kit? I here it’s better than AMT’s but being a Hobbycraft kit…

Sorry for the slow responce, but the Hobbycraft is yet another rehash of the old ESCI/AMT A-10 Kit, if you are looking for the best A-10 1/48 scale kit the theres a new sheriff in town it’s the Hobby Boss A-10, it’s a cross between the Revell-O-Grams & Italeri’s, what I mean is that it has recessed panel lines, current antenna’s, detailed cockpit (like Monograms), optional position decellorons, correct depth in the engine fan blades in the nacelles, optional position of the SPR door (Refueling door on the left main gear sponsion), but the down fall it’s a little pricey from Squadron right now at $69.95, but there is an importer on Cybermodeler that posted the sale cost at about $40.00 so you might want to check it out if you are in need of a very nice A-10 in 1/48 scale

What about Tamiya’s A-10A? Is it a re-tooled/re-issued kit of another manufacturer? There seems to be no aftermarket accessories for it. Can it be built as a Gulf War I/II model?

1970’s tooled Tamiya original. The Monogram kit has been the best 1/48 A-10 available since it first appeared. I had the pleasure of looking at a new Hobby Boss A-10 at the Region 5 convention last weekend. The kit looks gorgeous but comes with a price tag.

Cheers,

I have the Hobby Boss, and Mono kit’s (just finished recribing the Mono) I was just curious about the HobbyCraft kit to add to the flight line, but I think I’ll stay away from it. And yes the Hobb Boss A-10 is Awsome! At least from what I can see in the box, I have yet to start it. If you are ging to buy the HB a-10 I strongly recomend going through Lucky Model-44.00 after S&H compared to about 70.00 (S$H included) from Squadron and Great Models[yuck].

72cuda, Glad to see you weigh in (favorably) on HB’s A-10, i was waiting to see what you would think of it…I’m pretty excited about the new 1/48 A-10 model option!

One word of caution, the kit’s AIM-9 dual rail adaptors and MK-82s look a little suspect, and well there is the price which will ensure R/M’s A-10 remains a strong contender.

Bwog;

Yeah I couldn’t stand back and not answer this question for too long, I’ve only seen the “HB’s” kit in a local model show and was impressed, even though the person had paid almost an arm & a leg for the kit (Kit + S&H), I’m going to wait for a few until I could get mine at a reduced price or on EvilBay (YES I’m Cheap), Also I’m headed to San Antonio, Texas to work C-5’s and I’ll have to wait to get back to my beloved A-10’s for a couple more years
