Well laides and gents, this one is done. It is a Hobby Boss 1/48 Ta-152. For those unfamiliar with this AC, it was developed to deal with the allied bombers at high altitude. The Germans wanted a fighter capable of high altitude intercept of allied bombers to defend the homeland. They turned to Folke Wolf to develope an AC to fit the bill. Tank, one of FW lead designers came up with the idea to take the FW-190 and add a German bomber v-12 engine, which required lengthening the fuselage and wingspan to make the plane stable and flyable. The plane began production too late in the war to have any effect and most of these never saw any action. It was a very capable AC and could have made a difference had it come along earlier in the war. So, now you know why it resembles the 190 so much.
Anyway, I think it is one of the coolest looking German planes to come out of the war. I have been wanting to build this for some time and I finally got around to it.
This kit is wonderful. I would put it against any modern kit made in fit and quality all day everyday. It just about builds itself. I just can’t say enough good things about it. The details are nice and crisp and the panel lines and rivits are closer to scale than many other kits. It’s just simply an amazing kit.
I painted this one with the box art and decals. I can say this for sure, painting a squiggle camo paint scheme is a huge PITA. I painted this twice, completely before I could live with the results. Now that it is done, I am pleased with how it came out, but I needed some therapy along the way. Painting this was a true test of my nerves. The decals on this kit are also top notch, thin and lay down even in the most subtle lines.

Looks great BK. Kurt Tank made a killer design even more sleek and deadly. Great job on the build and specially the paint.
For some reason it still looks like a Dora. Most notable on this design was the extra wide wingspan not apparent in the pictures so H B may have goofed on the dimensions. The extra long tail looks correct. I have a Dragon TA and you can see the wide wingspan ok.
Ya know PJ, I was thinkin’ they looked a bit short. I can’t speak for the accuracy of the kit but it builds nicely.

The C had a standard wing and the H had the longer one. I have the Trimaster H so did some reading on it so yours is correct.
Gotta love those squiggles! The end result is awesome!
PJ, that’s good to know. I thought they all had long wings. I really love the look of the 152. I should get the other version as well. I think HB has another version besides the C1. Ill have to look.

Looks like an air intake on the port side of the fuselage. Is it? The “H” model had a pressurized cockpit but the “C” variant did not so my guess is that it had to do with the engine? Just curious.
It was a difference in engines, Mike. The Ta152H and the Fw190D both had Jumo 213’s but the Ta152C was Daimler powered, that’s why the different air intake positions.

Yes the C and H had different engines. The C was for mid altitude and ground attack operations and the H was the high altitude version with the longer wingspan. I too thought all Ta’s had the longer wingspan so it’s good to research and learn something new.
BK now you need to build the H Höhenjäger to show both variants.
