1/48 HELO DECALS

I recently returned from Iraq, and noticed my collection of un-built models was huge, so I started building. The only issue is that many of my model’s decals have deteriorated with the time that has passed. I have tried many companies that promote decal sales but so far I have been unlucky in finding decals for a MARINE UH-1 “HOG” (Vietnam era) and an AH-64 Apache. I just recently ordered transfer paper to experiment with my computer and printer, to see if I can produce my own. The majority of my subjects are 1:48 scale, but do not know where to start, begining with what program to use in the computer, and how to do white color effect on the decals. Does anyone knows how to guide me in the right direction?. Any assistance on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

You may want to use white decal paper, but that leaves a great deal of triming to be done. If you have a ink-jet copier/printer just use as a copier with the original decals if they are in good enough shape. Otherwise you may have to find someone or a company that can print white to do it for you

Stay tuned for new aftermarket AH-64 decals.

Have you tried cobra company Sandman?

I’m also looking for early AH-1 Cobra decals in 1:48 scale…

Super Scale used to make some, were on the UH-1 sheets, don’t think they are avialable anymore, but you might want to check around in old stocks

For Vietnam-era Cobra decals, check out Fireball Modelworks.

They also have some for Cobras operated by other nations, which includes one '70s/'80s all-green USMC snake as well.
