Welp, finished this guy up the day after New Years. Not the worst kit I’ve built, but it did have some issues with soft detail, alignment & fit. Panel lines didn’t line up correctly on the fuse sides. I did add some scratchbuilt brake lines and electrical lines to the undercarriage, and I detailed the seat and cockpit with some copper wire and other bits. I also experimented with a panel line wash. Decals are from Berna Decal and went down pretty well. On to the pics!
The camouflage is a base coat of Model Master Dark Ghost Gray. I then free-handed the patterns over the top of that with MM Intermediate Blue. All with an airbrush.
Andrew, the wash was simply Flat Black paint lightened a bit with some Insignia White and heavily thinned with distilled water and Jet Dri rinse aid. All the paints I use are the Model Master Acryl line. They’re tricky to airbrush sometimes, but cleanup is a breeze. After I flowed the wash into the panel lines, I let it dry for 1/2 an hour, then went back with a Q-Tip dipped in Windex to pull up the excess. I did have issues with the Windex pulling up my Future clear coat, but after I finished with the panel lines, I gave it another spray of Future with the airbrush and all was well.
