Hasegawa has an ad in Fine Scale Modeler for December it shows a 1/48 E-2C Hawkeye is this a advertisement error or is it true?
Seems like I seen somewhere else that they found out it is actually going to be 1/72. I don’t do modern aircraft, but I would one of those in 1/48.
It’s an error it is 1/72 scale.
Man, I would so buy one of those if it was 1/48…
Last I heard, MPM had a 1/48 E-2C in the planning for their Special Hobby label.
No announcement of release date though.
Ah nutz… Think I’m gonna cry now[:P]

I saw that add too. I was hoping, praying that it was 48th. But I guess not.[:(]
It’s actually 1/48 scale from Kinetic available around December 2009. Cybermodeler website has the ad. It will be huge and a big hit ! [#welcome]
Wow!! If the price is right, I will DEFINITELY have one of those in the stash! I’ve always wanted one of those in 1/48th scale. [party] [8-] [#toast]
Greatmodels has it up for Pre-Order. It is from Kinetic. I think the price was $85.00 when I ordered mine.
Is Kinetic a decent manufacturer? Is it worth $85?
I have never had a kit from Kinetic. I have read mixed reviews. Given the size and the rare subject, I was willing to fork out for it considering I will probably occupy myself for more than a month on it.
I wonder if Hobby Lobby will ever carry it? If they do, I’ll just wait for the 40%-off coupon that they have occasionally. But, that is just wishful thinking, I guess. [sigh]
Through a few reviews of some Kinetic kits, it is obvious that they use the moldings of Tamiya, Hasegawa and some others to modify (rather than copy) their toolings. Their kits are getting better even though the recessed panel lines are still terribly deep and heavy (better than Matchbox). However, they are a daring company to issue this kit. Kinetic is the brother company of Dragon (Kinetic made created the molding of P-51 Mustang for Dragon before the F-86F becomes their own kit). Hobby Boss is the brother of Trumpeter. Trumpeter used Tamiya molding of the A-10 for their own. Be alert that Trumpeter will issue their 1/32 A-1H Skyraider from Tamiya molding of 1985 very soon. Their 1/48 C-47 Dakota was not announced until it suddenly came out from nowhere. That’s what I’ve heard of.
$85 for Kinetic 1/48 E-2C is no surprise either comparing with the stock exchange today !!! [;)] The real problem is that, where am I going to display this kit if the folding wings will not be included as an option in the kit?
Hang it from the ceiling!! [8-] [:D]
Thats what I just did with my 1/48 C-130J… There is no way that thing is bigger than that.
No but they are similar sized birds. I am looking forward to seeing this one!

The C-130 is almost twice the size of the E-2.
The Herc is bigger yes, but not quite twice the size. That would be more in league with a C-141 or C-17 Now those are some big ones…[:O]
You are right, stikpusher, I’ll modify my claim from twice to about one and a half times the size.
