I have been pretty quiet lately and not doing much building in order to improve my somewhat meager skills. I have had the Hasegawa 1/48 Typhoon kit on the bench in some stages of assembly for months. Finally got around to finishing it.
I was screwing around with the camera and trying some outside shots which never come out. Ignore the backgrounds as I was trying to test close-ups outside with various sunlight conditions. I just can’t seem to get good pics - I need to get a photography box and some proper indoor lighting along with some solid lighter colored backgrounds.
Anyway built this one completely OOB with suggested markings including the early british identification markings on the underside. A few small parts were fabricated as I lost them to the carpet gods. Otherwise very little weathering. A few seam issues are slightly visible. I dont get too hung up on minor ones on the underside as I am trying to improve in all areas and build mostly for the enjoyment with no visions of churning out show winners.
I thought I would post as you dont see the Typhoon built all that much.

She’s a beauty, I’ve always thought the Typhoon was a pretty plane. It just looks powerful, nice lines too. I really like the camo pattern you put on her, looks great. Good choice on the limited weathering too, it suits it very well Your skills far exceed mine.
I’d like to build one eventually, how was the Hasegawa kit?
Nicely done. Your right. You don’t really see the Typhoon much. This is I think the 3rd or 4th one I 've ever seen.[t$t]

Excellent Typhoon Swede! I was excited to see your post & pics as I am just finishing up my Hasegawa Typhoon w/ Bubble Top canopy. It is currently on hold as I wait for a new clear sprue from Hasegawa as I dropped the gunsight into the unretievable abyss of the fuselage. I hear you about some slight fit issues. Did yours have a gap on the fuselage insert? Seems to be common on this mold. I had to a insert a piece of styrene to fill the gap. Again, very nice Tiffy and Thanks for sharing,

As to the fit on the Hasegawa kit I thought overall it was pretty decent. The only trouble area is in the nose and the big air intake scoop under the nose. Everything else went together fairly well. I did try using silly putty for the first time in order to mask softer lines for the camo pattern and I really liked it, I can’t free hand worth a darn and the silly putty makes painting a camo pattern much easier. Thanks to this forum and the magazine - I picked up that tip

Amen on the silly putty, used it on a Spitfire it made my life much easier.
Blue poster tack works well also. It won’t leave residue and doubles for holding parts for painting, sort of a second life before its finished.
The tack was a mask for the top 1/2 of a 1/144 scale Me-262. The bottom was sprayed black OOC (out of can) as you see the mist on the tack
I tried some tac but it left some residue, but that was almost certainly because I rushed it. I used the silly putty in the same time frame and it didn’t leave anything. For the impatient silly putty is awesome.
I do agree that the lines of a Typhoon are quite appealing and unfortunately the plane itself often gets overlooked by the Spit and Hurricane.

I’ve found those Hasegawa kits are great option, usually decent fit/detail right out of the box, for beginners (or those pressed for time!) but still a good base for the detailers among us. Great job Swede,
