1/48 Hasegawa Fw190 Bodenplatte Finished

This kit had some challenging fit issues and some stupid ‘make work’ features. However, I had fun and learned a lot, especially that I need practice with the airbrush. Feel free to critique and make suggestions - I’m still fairly new to the hobby, especially the airbrushing part.

I probably learned the most from the Cockpit how-to thread here (thanks).

Preshade

Finished cockpit minus wash

Assembled

I must get around to the ‘how to photograph your model’ thread sometime!

Underside showing preshading and variations in hue.

I’m not sure if this is the right way to make sure the preshade bleeds through the camoflage job on the wings?

Seems okay to me.

Waiting for final wash to dry (Flory ‘Grime’)

Detail

Finished Butcherbird.

I had a lot of issues with decals sticking immediately and refusing to be moved into place. Hence, there’s a couple of ones I’ve used from my stash of spares. I also painted the black and white rear fuselage bands. The proportions aren’t great but looks okay to me.

The instructions said to make holes under the wing for the outer gun casings to be ejected through. Not having the right tools made this a pain - especially when Hasegawa had made the inner ones so nicely.

Another beauty. Hasegawa does that with outer the outer guns because some versions had those omitted.
