1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18F

I organized a P-51 Mustang group build that started last year on Modeler’s Social Club. I had never built any type of Aircraft before besides the Saturn V I built for my son. It was a tough build. Learned a lot of new stuff. The Eduard kit I chose was also very precise fit parts and there was little to no room for error. Still, I REALLY enjoyed it. So much so that while building it I was already contemplating my next aircraft build. Which leads me here. Another group build on MSC, but something newer.

The F18 Hornet

As you can see from the photo, I have also been excited to try Quinta 3D decals as well. Which is about as far as I have gotten so far. Im taking it slow.

I researched online, and had some suggestions from other builders on which kit they enjoyed building and thats how I chose the Hasegawa kit I did. I also purchased aftermarket decals, just in case I didnt like the kit supplied ones. Ya never know.

I hope you enjoy the build. I know absolutely nothing about this plane. But like my P51 build, I am excited to learn all I can while I build this one. I say that so you keep that in mind when you see me not be 100% historically accurate with anything. Just relax, its only plastic

First day of building was learning that Quinta “decals” are not really decals. I had no idea I had to glue them in place. Thank you, YouTube for supplying the necessary instructions since Quinta provided nothing more than location for each one.

Looks good so far, x2 on youtube as that’s what I watched before putting 3d decals into a cockpit.
Also, Flying Leathernecks has a bunch of F-18 after market stuff.

These decals continue to impress. I wish my hands were not so shaky, but even still. Crooked decals or not, they look wonderful.
