I gotta admit, this build is giving me fits. For some reason I just cannot figure out how to paint it. The scheme I am doing is a very complicated, layered paint job. Seems each time I think I know how I’m gonna do it, something about it won’t work. One of these days I gotta just start spraying!

I am not convinced that ye be bamboozaled on the paint issue. Now that I am more knowledgable about yer work, I believe that you are already done. It’s perfect (again) and being the kind person you are, are just waiting for the proper time to spring it so poor chaps like me are not overwhelmed!
I figured out how Guy does it with the clones and all, I am thinking real hard about how your doing it as well. That Optivisor must have special powers.

Aaron- I have the decals for White “44”, too bad I built this one into a different configuration than that bird. Last night, I did some work on some paint masks for it. Using a couple of references, I drew up some paper masks then started cutting.
One thing I really like about this scheme is the combination of sharp demarcation lines, and very soft ones as well on the same airframe. I used paper masks on the tail, and did the fuselage camo freehand. The scalloped leading edge line was done with Handy-Tac. Here she is with the RLM 75 sprayed on:

I only am sarcastic about the whire 44 because I know you well enough to be sure that you will not settle. Looking at your work , when you say good enough it will really fly! You will pull it off and make me jealous again I am sure. Can I borrow you to do a couple of my pits?

The Handy Tac stuff is available at the large chain stores like Walmart, Target, etc. Do you have those or similar stores near you? Usually is in the office products/ school suppiles area. It is intended for hanging posters but works beautifully for camo work!

Thanks Mike! It has been a while for this one, I actually started it in September of 2005 when I cleaned up the parts to start building her. Finished a lot of builds since then, and she has sat quietly waiting her turn for a couple of years. Thank you for the kind word on the office and paint, much appreciated! No preshading on this one, just a base coat of RLM 76 and some 75 to boot. Can’t wait to spray the 83 to see how she’s coming along. [tup]

OK guys, I need your help on this one. Last night, I sprayed the RLM 83 on the fuse and wings. Had quite a bit of trouble with coverage, not sure what I was doing wrong but felt like I was fighting her all the way. The green I used (Tamiya) came out way too bright I think, but I know that 83 was a pretty bright color. I think it looks OK on the fuse, but the wings look awful to me. I don’t have many references on this aircraft, but the decal sheet from Eagle Editions calls for RLM 75 and 83 as uppersurface colors. So, here’s where I need your help. I have a couple of options, just want your input.

Leave it be and hope the weathering tones it down enough

Try to overpaint the green. I would prolly lose the scalloped leading edges and the nice soft demarcation lines on the wing.

Strip the model and hope I can do it without ruining it.
