1/48 Hasegawa Bf-109G-10 finished 8/31/08

? I like your spinner. Some people are so touchy, [(-D] I can’t wait to see your paint scheme it looks like it is gonna be way cool. Are you gonna make it an operation Bodenplate or Reich Defense or maybe stop the red hord?

Thanks Aaron! I liked the spinner too, but the decal made the black stripe too narrow for the aircraft I am modelling, so off it went. Oh, well… at least I know I can make those work! [tup]

The aircraft I am modelling is Yellow “5”, the only one I could find with the standard G-10 cowl, tall tailwheel, and small wing bulges as I have built it. Next time, I will do a bit more research before deciding on parts to install as the finished monster can be difficult to find markings for! I bought about a half dozen sheets hoping to find one that would work before I did manage to find one. [tup]

**Frankie…**there is just something wrong about seeing that bird without paint!

Go for it Bro…[tup]

Frank, I can’t believe I’ve missed this thread…WOW! nice work on the 109 so far. You’ve got a great camera/studio set up as well. Nice pics!

Good choice on Yellow 5 , as well. Looking forward to more pics.

Frank, nice choice on the markings. I have to remember the soda can thing[tup]

excellent stuff frank [8D] i for one always struggle to do spirals on spinners [:(!]

ian [bow]

That is a cool bird Frank. Bet yours is gonna run better than the real thing. One other question though? You said you must have bought 1/2 dozen decal sheets before finding the right one. Does this mean you have approximately at least another 18 more to build. It would be a shame to waste the decals, don’t ya think?[8D]

Charles, Roy, Ian- thank you fellas! Glad you are enjoying the work. I put the base coat of RLM 76 on last night, but the photo of it as such is almost indistinguishable from the photo of her in primer! I’ll post a pic after the next step. [tup]

Hmmm… good idea! One can never have too many '109s, isn’t that right Stan, Guy, and Mike? [:D]

I just left for a few days and see what happened [:)]

Nice work Frank !

Looking forward to see the paint job.

Thanks Greg! You set the bar quite high with yours, hope I can get halfway there! [tup]

Not sure how I missed this one, but now that I found it, I’ll be watching closely! Great work so far, Frank! [tup]

That is just awesome work… also very inspirational! I have a few 109s in my stash, such a great bird… love what you do with yours, thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys, I am glad you are liking her so far. After the recent offerings by Greg, Guy, Stan, Mike and some others I hope this one turns out half as nice as theirs. You guys are a tough act to follow! [tup]

Is it painted yet Frank? [:-^]

Inquiring minds wnat to know.

SO WHAT YA WAITIN’ FOR?

LOL, I’m on it!

Seriously, a paint job usually takes me from two weeks to two months. I hope you enjoy! [:D]

Lookin’ real nice.

Thank you! Last night, I did some different paint effects to the base color. The closer I looked at the airframe, I realized that the primer was pretty thick in spots and was developing that sand texture. So, I started smoothing the whole plane down with some 1200 grit wet sandpaper, a scothbrite pad, and a stitched wheel in a motor tool. I need to respray the base color as the work burned through some of the paint, but the surface is now much smoother. A minor setback, luckily I have had LOTS of experience stripping and repainting models in the last year. I’m getting pretty good at it now! [sigh]

Resprayed the base color this morning, much better this time around! [:D]

Been a while since I worked on this one! Had to scroll down to page 17 to find the thread. After finishing up a couple of GB’s, I am now able to continue with this one. Masked off the areas to receive the RLM02, and sprayed those this morning. I usually paint these areas first, but in my previous haste to paint this one I neglected that step. Well, now the 02 is on so in a day or so I can start with the top colors. More to come! [tup]
