My hands aer shaking! Did I see a soon-to-be-released 1/48 scale F2-G Corsair about to come out? Can someone tell me the manufacturer? I’m at the office now and I don’t have the magazine in front of me unfortunately.
Special Hobby. Got it. Thanks! I’m going to put that on a Post-It note next to my computer. I think they said it was $35 which was surprising. I’m so used to the Tamigawas of the world coming out with a new kit that’s not under $60 at least. Thirty-five dollars seems affordable compared to that.
WOO HOO!!! An F2G Corsair is finally being produced!! WOO HOO!!! I’ve been waiting for one of those for years. My plans are to build every version of the Corsair, but I don’t scratchbuild (I tried it once; it was not pretty…). So, understandably, I am ecstatic to hear of this. Now, if someone would produce the XF4U Corsair (Yeah, I know - there’s an article by Paul Boyer on how to convert an F4U-1 kit to an XF4U, but that’s way beyond my capabilites - at least for right now), I’ll be in modeling heaven!!
I know exactly how you feel! If they were to re-write the Bible with me playing the part of Adam, God would have the Garden of Eden filled with F4U-5s and F2-Gs. Naturally I wouldn’t last a millionth of a second with all that temptation around me. I drool over Corsairs especially the hot ships they because with each passing variant. I think the F4U-4s and the -5s epitomized the meaning of the word “fighter”. Now given the choice between a Corsair and a P-61, I’d still have to take the P-61 but that’s another story for another day…
Know whatcha mean, Eric. The Corsair is my all-time favorite aircraft, probably because the Marines flew it to greatness (me being being a former Marine, I do tend to be a bit biased in that regard).
I love the looks of the P-61 as well. Did you know that the USMC owned a few of those as well back in WWII? Got pictures to prove it! So, I’m definitely gonna have to build a P-61 in USMC markings. Luckily, the paint is overall flat black, so painting shouldn’t be too hard.
Have fun with your modeling. Hey, by the way, how did the Harrier TAV-8B conversion come out? If I remember correctly, I sent you a Monogram kit and a resin conversion kit for it a few years ago. If you’re not the guy, sorry. Talk atcha later!
Well, that does it! I’m ordering one RIGHT NOW!!! I can’t wait for it to hit the US shelves!! NOW, I tell you!! I want it NOW!!! ohmygosh!!! Where’s my Prozac?? heavy panting* Whew. Ok. I’ve calmed down now. Twenty-one pounds isn’t too bad, I guess. That equates to roughly $38.00. I can afford that. Plus shipping, too. Hmmm. Maybe I need to check Squadron’s website first…
Thanks for the update, upnorth. Glad to see it’s not just a rumor.
I hope that wasn’t Special Hobby. I know Hobby Craft made a fairly poor F-82. Whether or not it came from SH I don’t know. I hope not. But there’s no problem that can’t be overcome with a bunch of gap filling material (putty, glue, etc), sharp Xactos and lots of sandpaper.
Twenty pounds can’t be too much in American dollars, right? Isn’t that something like $8 or $9? Just kidding but a man can dream can’t he? My wife is going to quit her job after our second child is born in May so for now we’re “practicing” by living off of only my paycheck. I might have to buy this one last kit before I’m destitute for real! LOL!
I’ve heard about the Black Widow in Navy and Marine service. Didn’t they use them to train their mechanics on working around Tigercats? Something like that.
As far as the Monogram kit and resin conversions, ummmmmm…I never got them. Yeah that’s the ticket. You’d better send them to me again. LOL! Just kidding. That was not me so I think you’ve got me mixed up with someone else. But don’t let that stop you from sending me stuff. Ha-ha-ha!
Special Hobby is a Division of MPM. Has no relation to Modelcraft that I’m aware of, but yes, the Modelcraft F-82 will long reside in the Kit Hall of Shame.
Modelcraft seems to be more of a reissuing house than an actual manufacturer. I had heard that their F-82 was one of their few originals, if thats the case, they’d best stick with reissues.
Deffinitely not a relative to MPM, their molding standards don’t even come close to MPM’s.
