very cool. I’m a 1/35 scale guy but I might have to get me one of those. Wonder what the odds in vegas are on getting that helo in 1/35th? I’m such a dreamer.
Looks great. Another big helo model to get.
Night Flight Models is coming out with a 1/35 version.
Oh wait, don’t hold your breath on that. CG looks great though.[}:)][XX]
Thats sooooo wrong Gino. Get my hopes up then quickly crush my dreams![:(][(-D]
Three words come to mind…I WANT ONE!
There’s something wrong with those pictures, though, they just don’t seem right. Oh, I know what it is. That model is far too clean to accurately represent Big Iron. But will it look spectacular on a shelf next to a -46!
Thanks for the peek!
Its reported to be almost two feet in length! WOWZEE!!
Just think the CH46-E, CH47-A and the CH53-E all in 1/48! what a lay out!

Is this a GOOD YEAR for helo modelers or what!?!?
Too bad for Chris…He’s going to be up to his armpits in detial sets for the next two years…Chris…better get those mice labor dispute contracts worked out! [;)]
I can’t wait. That thing looks very accurate. It looks like the landing gear wheel hubs may need some adjustment/further detailing. The squadron ID “CJ” on the tail shouldn’t be that close to the tail stabilizer. There’s a panel just forward of the main rotor head that doesn’t look quite right, but these are all small gripes. This is going to be a great kit. I’d need a closer look to be truly nit picky, but I’m not crazy about rivet counters myself. I’m going to have to change the squadron markings to HMH-464 from HMH-461.
I’m really getting excited. Is there any release date yet?
Semper Fi,
Chris
Soon! Its slated as a 1st quarter release.
What a year for HELO kits!!! [tup]
Positively outstanding. Thanks a lot for the update and pics. Boy my wallet is going to be hurting this year!!

I’d have to agree, what a year for helo kits, and what I hit my wallet will take. If I can keep my wife from spending my hazard pay I should be able to get my -53 and a -47 without too much fuss. Heck, there shouldn’t be any complaints, I won’t be buying ANY kits until I get back (Just don’t remind her about the shelf full of unbuilt kits, please).

Yes, I saw that and was trying to figure out if Academy will get the rotor heads and blades right? I hope they do, but my guess is that it will just be the current D model with different decals.[:(]
The recently released D model has the set up for the FRBs. CH-46Ds prior to 1980 used metal blades and had different rotor heads than what is currently installed on CH-46Es.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
If needed… I’m sure that the Chief will be at the rescue like normal?..hehehe.
I love the model but unfortunately I won’t be getting it. Not because of the cost, but because of the size. I would like to see a modern day tooling of at Ch-53e and Ch-46 in 1/72nd scale so that I won’t have to dedicate one room to displaying them.

just give me a date!!!

Actually the Fujimi CH-46Ds and CH-46F/Es are pretty accurate. At least they are far more accurate than the ancient Airfix kit. I don’t know about the Hobbycraft kit as I haven’t seen it. During my 97-90 tour in Korea, I picked up a couple of Lee knock offs of the Fujimi kits and they aren’t bad either.
Couple the Fujimi kit with the Eduard detail setup and you have the makings of a fine model. nJust pray that your eyesight holds up after dealing with all the small pe parts! [;)]

Squadron normally carries them, but they are showing the F/E as being out of stock, still, RollModels can probably get them for you.

From the looks of things “Chief” will not have time to rescue everything the modeling community is asking for!
Jonathan,
Thanks for the info. I know there was a 1/72nd scale CH-53e but I can’t find it anywhere. By the way, I was one of lucky guys who did more lift offs in the -53 and 46 than landings. Know what I mean?[;)]
