Im building Tamiyas “Betty” for a GB and figured Id post a few pics over here too. I have a good bit done so Im just gonna show you the highlight reel…lol
The IP is part kit part, part eduard PE brass. I wired the back of it with 28ga. beading wire…
Seats had some PE goodies added…

I added some scratch details in the wheel wells. There was a nasty seam that I covered with sheet styrene. I used wire for the tubing and scrap plastic for junction boxes. I used the corner section of the sprue the wings came on for exhaust pipes in the top of the wells…
I added some scratchbuilt detail to the main canopy. I glued a “U” channel down the centerline and ran some wiring through it. I made sun shades from toilet paper sprayed with 3 different Tamiya colors.I rolled the shade for the open hatch around a very small drill bit shaft and tied it shut with wire. Both shades were fixed to the canopy with Testor`s clear parts glue. The wheel is a kit part …
Finally, the engines. I wired them with 32 ga. wire from the rear, where I applied CA glue to hold them still. The engines had locator thingies(technical tem) where the ignition wire would be on the real thing so thats where I drilled my holes with a tiny drill bit in a Dremel. Theyre ready for paint.

Thanks Gamera! Go for it Sept…this build will be done and forgotten by then. I wish the Japanese GB idea was tossed out there a little sooner…Im building this kit and a Mossie for the "Way too many props" GB...wouldve loved to have saved it for Sept. Can`t wait for that one to start…[Y]
Len, sorry I guess I could have started sooner but several people had prior commitments and I myself have a pile of stuff I need to finish so I guessed overall it might be better to give folks a little time. I’m stoked for this too, I guess I could do the Betty in a different scheme than you but I’ve got about thirty or so other Japanese subjects as well. I’m going to need two and half months to make up my mind which one I want to build… [^o)]
