Does anyone know of any company that makes 1/48 B2 spirit, I saw it at RAF Fairford last weekend and thought it was awesome so I’ve got to build one, the only kit I’ve found is a Testors 1/72 but at £30 is a bit much for a 1/72 model.
I’ve only seen Testor’s 1/72 B-2, never a 1/48. But I hope I’m wrong though. Let’s see, 172ft wingspan comes out to 3feet 7inches wide. With a length of 64ft, the model would be 16inches long. That’s a big bomber.
I don’t see why we couldn’t have a 1/48 B-2 (it’s not my cup of tea, but still worth kitting, I think.) Doesn’t the Monogram B-36 boast a three-foot+ wingspan? And look at the Testors SR-71/YF-12 family of kits in 1/48. Lots and lots of plastic in those, and some great big unwieldy parts, with great big long unwieldy seams to go with them. But they build up into nice kits. What it makes up for in width, the B-2 morethan lacks in length, to mangle a cliche.
You know after reading the above post’s I think 1/72 must be big enough, I don’t think the wife would let me put a 3’ model anywhere in the house so I’ll have to downsize as normal.
thanx for the info.

appologies. it is 1/72. i was stone cold on the fact that it was 1/48 though. dont know why.
IMO, the airplane isn’t worth a build (talking about if it came in 1/48) little to no serface deatile, and you can’t see inside the cockpit. you would basically just be building a wing
Think on the bright side. Even in 1/48th you should be able to put it together in an afternoon. Just a couple of wing halves and some landing gear, right?[:)]
Testors has the same kit in a couple of different packagings. That’s somewhat of a difficult build, not because it’s real complicated, but it’s really akward the way you assemble the whole thing. Not to mention that it doesn’t fit together all that well. A 1/48 would be a pretty huge kit. You might try the 1/44 version from Revell Germany, it’s a bit better quality.
Just make sure to really clamp the wing halves tightly together and wait for the glue to fully cure. The wings on mine came apart when I removed the tape after a few hours drying. Also, the upper and lower halves are in three pieces each, if memory serves me right. You will also need putty to fill the gaps between all the major pieces though, but it’s nothing that’s very difficult to fix.
