1/48 B1B?

I just picked one up, this thing is F-ING BIG!!! How do they go together, are they a pain in the 6", is ther any thing that I need to look out for?

I slapped one together just for the H_ _L of one time.didn’t do any detailing or anything. ended up putting a blasting cap up it’s butt and blowing it to hell and back.

Hey guys, lets watch the language. Disguised or not, this Forum does not appreciate 4 letter words. I won’t press the abuse key, but no need for this here.

I’m speaking as a person who is building a bone that sat in a garage in ohio for 7+ years. There’s some fit issues all over. If you take your time, you can make it into a good kit.

Thanks.

Hey,
Does this kit require any internal bracing? I’ve thought about getting it, and have been wondering about the size and potential sag issues.

Brian

Good one, man. I did not think about that. I do not know.

No idea about any drooping issues, but I’ve got one in the box taking up a whole shelf all by itself that I was planning on building for the Bone GB. I’ll get to it sometime, but I’ve got to figure out how I want to display it first. I’d like to do the open bomb bays and on it’s landing gear, but I may have to go with a hanging, wheels-up display. Who knows?

Now, are there some after market JDAMs or JSOWs that I can hang on this beastie?

Hey SSGT, take a look over in the Group build forums. There is a thread on the B-1. Also follow this link to a B-1 thread over on ARC http://www.arcforums.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4079&hl=Monogram%20B-1

I know, Man. I do not know where Im going to put this thing. I have a 1/48 C-130j too, and that one is big too.

thanks good info, 47guy.

I’m near finishing one of these; would have had it finished by the end of last year if it weren’t for Hurricane Katrina. It’s definitely an intimidating kit, but if you just take your time, think through and plan your construction/painting, and build in sub-assemblies, it’s not too difficult. If I can remember, I had to smooth out a “step-up” between the cockpit section of the fuselage and the main section, and even after 2 applications of putty it is somewhat noticeable. Probalby just my lack of skills. As for detail and such, the cockpit and instrument panels are actually incorrect for the B-1B: they are appropriate only for a B-1A. If you buy Eduard’s photoetched detail set for the B-1B it will correct the instrument panels and give you better detail in other areas of the aircraft. Hope that helped and I’ll make sure to post photos of mine when it’s done (hopfully before my freshman year of college [beginning Fall 06]).

Cool, thanks.

Hi,

A good kit, but be patient, 'cos to get something cool out of it, you’ll have to fill seams with putty, and sand, sand… but it is a beautiful bird, and the kit is coming along quite well (but these seams…)

Have a look at my beginning with the kit : http://www.finescale.com/FSM/CS/forums/585028/ShowPost.aspx

Hope this helps…

Cheers,

Richard
