Remember that post a few weeks back about the 1/48 B-36 Peacemaker?
Well, here’s a scan of the pix:

As mentioned before, it’s a finished model, by a company called Wing Club, perhaps diecast (doesn’t mention the materials in the text), so I’m sure you BUILDERS aren’t interested in purchasing one [;)], but I thought ya’ll would still get a kick out of seeing the pix, so here they go. I still haven’t called for pricing…would be fun to know!
You have to admit, though…that thing looks pretty darned good. Amazing detail!
Wingspan: 146 centimeters! That’s what…146 divided by 2.56, equals 57 inches…4 feet 9 inches! Yowzah! The Wings detach for transport, so the text says.
UPDATE:
Well, I called Wing Club today (Feb. 21) to ask about the price, and other details:
The model is completely finished upon delivery, and is made of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) and metal. It takes one year to finish.
The price: 950,000 yen.
That’s about $9,050 USD.
That’s right: almost ten thousand dollars USD!! [:0]
I figured it would be expensive, but I never imagined quite that expensive!
I was thinking maybe around $1,000 USD…$1,500 tops.
Nope.
$9,050!!
The very polite gentleman at Wing Club explained that it is an exceptionally detailed replica, and as part of their Museum Model Series, is indeed marketed to be sold to museums and other institutions. And wealthy private collectors, of course!
So, who’s ready to put in their order? [;)]
