1/48 B-1B?

My local Hobby Lobby has a 1/48 Revell B-1B Lancer–a subject I really like in my favorite scale for aircraft. But given how variable in quality Revell Kits are (at least in my experience), I thought I’d put it to you folks: does anyone know how this kit is? Is it worth the money or should I look for a different brand of the same subject, same scale?

[#welcome]to the Forum, Martacus! If you really want a 48 scale B-1B, then the Revell kit is it. I’ve never built it so I cant’t tell wether it’s good or bad but you can check online reviews at http://www.modelingmadness.com/reviews/mod/kolb1.htm and some builds at www.aircraftresourcecenter.com and click on “Gallery”.

Thanks! Looks like one to wait on until I have some more experience. But I’ll definitely have to get it!

Hey Martacus, I’m building it now. Even though it’s from the 80’s, it is a very good kit. It’s got reccessed panel lines, fairly detailed bomb and gear bays, and rubber wheels. The drawbacks are poor fit in some places, incorrect shape (like on the engine nacelles), and a tinted canopy. But if you’re willing to put some work into it, this will be a very good kit!

Martacus;
I’ve built 2 of Revells Bone, the first was the prototype schemed A/C, and the more resent release from Revellogram back in the mid-90’s, it’s the only 1/48 Bone out there so your options are about nill, but the kit isn’t that bad for a Revell kit before the merge, the only draw backs are the panel lines are a little heavy, the engine nacells are of the B-1A’s, the vortix generators on the tail are missing, as with a few antennas,but all in all its a nice kit that could be done into a great master piece

I picked this kit up while I was home, since it was 1/2 price at the Hobby Lobby there. I’ve ordered some PE and the resin burner cans so it should turn out pretty nice. The only real problem that I see is where am I going to display it? Guess I have some shelf re-arranging to sort out.
