1/48 Armor GB - 2007

Hi, figured I’d clarify my project from the other thread… I’m doing the Tamiya Initial Tiger I with the Voyager PE set, stowage from the Tamiya stowage set, and a whole complement of Tamiya figures: all four crew members and some infantry moivng alongside… I did Tiger 332 on the Russian front, with extra details added as per the relatively complete photos of the tank in Tigers in Combat I, and I’m going to do the terrain like the picture a few pages earlier of a Tiger I from the same group (503) crossing a road during a quiet period while a bunch of infatrymen mill around alongside.

The tank is almost done, working on the tracks now (which I saved for last) then finish installing the outer set of wheels, and then finish assembling and painting the figures, and figuing out how to make the terrain.

Wow, thats sounds like its going to be one interesting diorama. I’ve listed it as such on the list.

The kubel is a great kit. You’ll love it.

The Voyager pe set showed up in the mail today, so I’ll be getting going in the next few days.

I added the Badge to the first post. I have no preference if you wish to use it now or wait until you are done. I would just ask that you download the image to your own server instead fo linking to site for the server. Thanks.

Put me down for a Kubelwagen W/conversion.

Thad

Thad, great to see you on board!

Good to see the interest in 1/48th armor.

Thanks for adding me waikong…

I started the Schwimmwagen today. It is as though I have to paint each part separately and then glue the whole thing together.

On the plus side, the kits looks as well built as the Kubelwagen.

This one will be many shades of panzer gray to contrast with the timber oar and the tools.

I got my VW staff car in the post today so should be getting started on it pretty soon. There’s not alot to the kit so I’m going to be putting it in a dio.

I could’nt find a Kubel in stock so I also bought the Schwimmwagen and might try and incorperate that into my dio,I’ll be keeping an eye on your build Rooster.

I’ll post some pics up as I progress.

waikong, put me in for a KV-1 also. Started it last night and it’s almost done already! Hard to believe it only took three hours to assemble the thing. These Tamiya kits are sweet little monotony breakers.

hkshooter, done. You are fast! These kits build much faster than my usual aircrafts, but 3 hrs? Maybe you should build 2 or 3 more! I’ve started my Sherman, but it’ll take more than 3 hrs for me.

These usually fly for me. This one I’ve done a little differently because of circumstances. I completely finished the contruction on this one prior to painting. The painting I will probably have about three more hours in so the total time is likely to be six or so hours. I hope I’ll be able to paint it suitably while it’s completely together. Going to be interesting.

Does the 1/48 scale vehicle need to be an actual military used vehicle or can it be a “what if” military vehicle?

what if’s are fine, as long as its 1/48.

Thanks, I’ve got this 6-wheeled combat vehicle that is 1/48 scale but does not fit into most traditional group build genres. I thought it would be a good vehicle to build for this GB.

Waikong I’m definitely up for this one, can you please put me down for a Tamiya M-26 Pershing.

Rob, where the heck did you get that kit from I don’t think I’ve ever seen one quite like it, was it part of a series?

Cheers

Darren, welcome! I’ve added you to the list, a non-WWII subject. Along with Rob, yours two are the only non-wwii subject. Nice to get the variety.

It was part of a Japanese anime mecha series. That vehicle was originally called the JRS Native Dancer. Revell imported several series of Japanese anime models and labeled them all “Robotech”. This was one of the few non-giant robot kits and was issued in an off-scale compared to the rest of the series.

It is a neat 6-wheeled ATV that has a large cannon on top and two 4-shot rocket pods. Nimble enough to avoid Godzilla’s blasts but has a big enough blast to make him look for easier prey.

Sorry to disappoint you Waikong but the Tamiya kit I’m doing is actually a T26E3 (forerunner to the M26 Pershing) regardless of what the box says. I’m doing the build as a vehicle from the 3AD operating in Cologne 1945.

Cheers
