Ok, out of curiousity I picked up an Accurate Miniature SBD-3 (pretty good deal) and it is a night and day difference. The AM kit is crisp with no flash as compared to the Academy release (AM molds). Don’t get me wrong, the Academy kit is easily buildable but does not compare to the original AM release (at least when comparing the Academy version I received).
Yes, the Accurate kits are just gorgeous to see in the box. Not for the novice modeler, but they sure are beautiful kits!
