1/48 Academy: Hawk-75 WIP

Thank you for your kind words [:)]

I thought about the 48 hours “race” [:)], but I could not make it. You did an exceptional work on your P-36 and improvements were done wherever possible.

This kit has a lot of small “problems” and engine and engine cawlings are just some of them.

  1. the engine position is wrong

  2. machine gun covers are wrong

  3. engine is wrong [:)]

Here is a sketch I found very interesting showing most of the items

Greg- Stunning work on your Hawk family! I do not have one of these kits in my stash (only have P-40s) but plan to get one now. That engine is top notch work my friend. [:)]

Quickboost resin kit plus stretched sprue for pushtubes covers and Eduard ignition wiring [:)]

I had to fix one of the rocker covers [:(] chopped off by my rough handling [:)]

I painted the whole thing black, than dry brush aluminum (enamel) and spray gray (Tamiya) on the block and gearbox. Than I brushed some aluminum on rockers covers.

Ignition wires painted with copper/aluminum.

That is it [:)]

Greg:

Great idea for a project. Looking great so far!

Excellent work so far Greg. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Thanks !

A small progress …

PE flaps are nice but … its a lot of tiny pieces … you may know what I mean [:)]

Its time to set upper wing side …

I used TenX7 to set the parts and than used CA to get stron connection (from the inside)

Now its time to start connecting the button side of the wing: first the rear center piece …

You know I just made this kit and you are completely destroying my ego! Any idea on the markings you are going to use?

Phenomenal stuff Greg! You keep getting better and better, and your models show it. Can’t wiat until the next update! [:)]

Thanks guys ! [:)]

The first flap is not so well made. I made a mistake but covered it so so … [:)]

Next time I will try to be more patient.

The markings will be a surprise [:)]… no, not really … its another Polish aircraft [:)].

I plan to do a “French episode” fighters (Polish squadrons in France 1940). Hawk 75 is a first one. Next will be MS406, D520, MB152, Koolhoven and Fokker. The only one missing will be CR714 but I will not miss this one much [:)]

P-36/H75 from Academy is a very “spartan” kit. With some additionas it could be something like a tamiya [:)] and this is a reason I am trying to put all add-ons as possible,

Next Week I should have canopy from Part and it will be the last thing I am going to put into this kit.

Hmmm A Polish Hawk! Cool don’t see that everyday. I’m guessing fighting with the French? Very interesting. I built that Academy Kit a lttle over w week ago for the 48 Hr Madness build. Seeing all that detail your adding is killing me!

Made mine the Lt Rasmussen fighter at Pearl Harbor. Just tell yourself you only have 48 hours! Funny I never saw a Tamiya kit with those kinda flaps outta the box! [banghead]

I saw your build on this group. What can I say … crazy [:)] I almost joined but myy wife’s flu got into me [:(] Not a fun time !

You did a lot to fix this kit. I admire thinning the cawling flaps etc. This kind of corrections really add a lot to the kit. If you build Academy OOB not much you can get there [:)] Detail level is very spartan. You did a very good job on this one.

What can I say other than I am Pea green with envy on those mad skills. Not sure I have the patience to tackle all those small PE parts let alone keeping them all lined up. I see no mistake in that flap you mentioned. Think your seeing things ! [#toast] A pilot in the pit and closed canopy does wonders for the interior detail… [(-D]

Can’t wait to see whats next! [tup]

I made for a first time Eduard’s flaps and in fact it was fairly easy.

Next will be this one :

Your incorridgable! I didn’t even know they made those. [^][alien][:P] Green with envy again!

LOL

First time I used their parts for my Hurricane (not finished yet 98%)

Hello

I’m very happy to see an airplane with french colors  . I like the hawk 75.Your work is very nice.

Yup, the schema will be a bit challanging

I plan to make it:

however I do not have confirmation that Polish pilots flew with 3 escradrille from GC II/5 in 1940

EDIT: according to latest info I received, this aircraft belonged to Czechoslovakian pilots. Close but not there yet [:)]

Greg, that’s a great looking paint scheme.

Wow, Greg, that is an awesome piece of work. The engine detail is something else. Looking forward to seeing more of this one.
