1/400 mirage U-boat

Has anyone built a 1/400 mirage U-boat or other sub? How long are they generaly? What is the quality like?

Thanx Ernest.

Hmmm, a U-boat was around 200 feet long, right? So I’d guess around five inches for a Type VII, maybe a tad more. (?)

I’ve never built one of their styrene kits, but generally speaking I like their conversion sets for armor.

Anyway, they are super cheap, I think, so not too painful to give it a whirl! Too bad they are Heller 1/400 instead of the Tamiya/ICM/Trumpeter scale of 1/350th, though. They make lots of stuff I’d be interested in if the scale were slightly different. I’d love to build a WWI German destroyer.

Thanx Larry … I guess I had rocks in my head on the scale question. I was thinking 1/400 = 1 in for every 400 ft of real boat…duh sorry …lol Never post topic till after coffee!!!

I have just about all their boats, and the p.e. to go with them, have buildt two of them. They both where alot of fun although the p.e. is just a tad on the soft side for me, it really make the model standout.

Thanx man I think Ill get a few…

I have one that I haven’t built yet. I got the PE set for it and it looks sharp. Detail seems good for a small scale kit.

For what it’s worth, I ordered one of their little German WWI destroyers and will pop it together when it arrives, then let you know what I think of it.

Ernest, I like the Mirage U-Boats very much; accurate outline, good detail, and a great price. I did a review if the Type IIs for the IPMS website at http://www.ipmsusa.org/Reviews/Kits/Ships/Kits_Ships.htm . My models were built almost straight from the box, so the pictures will give you an idea of what the kits look like.
