Is anyone selling an unopened plastic model kit of a 1/350 USS Indianapolis for a reasonable price.[H]
The Academy kit of that just hit the market and it is selling for around $50 on a few sites… Is that reasonable?
USS Indianapolis is not a battleship but a heavy cruiser.
I just received my Academy 1/350 USS Indianapolis. I test-fitted the upper and lower hull pieces . . . perfecto! I perused the parts and saw excellently molded parts with a high level of detail, although much of it will be sanded off in favor of photoetch detailing. I am quite happy with the kit.
And, the ship is a heavy cruiser, not a battleship.

Thanks everyone i was thinking that somehting of 1/350 size would be at least a $100 like most other kits that size…especially for japenes carriers…
Look at Academy’s 1/350 ships… great value for the dollar. Each release shows improvement as well in their detail and quality. Not a wide selection, (yet) but the ones I have are sweet… and fairly affordable. HMS Warspite is a real beauty if you want a battlewagon under $100.
The USS Indianapolis by Academy is very reasonable. I paid $30.00 for mine. Also, their Graf Spee is affordable as well; I have seen the regular release going for around $35.00. Even the Premium Edition of the Spee is reasonably priced given what is included in the kit, with wooded decks, full photoetch, and brass gun barrels going for around $125.00.
