1/35 Velcro?

Anyone want to bite?

I’m building a 1/35 M113A2 circa 1985 based in West Germany 1/11 ACR [;)] and I want to reproduce the velcro strips used for MILES gear that ran the circuference of the vehicle.

This will be a diorama component with an M578 hoisting the power pack. Anyone have references to the sling used to hoist the pack with? I have rough estimates on the dimensions from measurments on the pack hoisting points and 22 year old memories.

Anyone know where I could get the amber warning beacon (whoopee light) from?[?]

velcro in this scale can be done with self adhesive black felt. They usually come in thin sheets that can be cut in strips of the width you need.

The other ref you request, try here

You might prefer to use strips of 600-grade wet&dry. Although felt seems better at first sight, it seems to me that it would pick up dust and muck, which you then wouldn’t be able to remove.

Cheers,

Chris.

dust and muck is wha tthe real stuff pics up after a period of time. It never stays clean

SSgKopp is correct in that the velcro strips do not stay clean and do require periodic replacement.

Found the warning lights (whoopee lights) by Accurate Armor @ Mission Models.

Wouldn’t the felt be out of scale? Any ideas of how to trim it to get the thickness down?

Thanks for the suggestions![tup]

I built a M1A2 a couple years ago and i used thin tape do show the velcro and it works for the scale.

The tape method looks good.

The felt I’m refering to, I can’t hink of the name. It’s almost like fuzzy paper. I’ll go to the fabric/craft store this weekend and check the product name for this stuff.

I finally went back to the fabric store this evening and found the Plush Velvet ribbon I was trying to describe earlier.

I bought a yard of it for .31¢

I’ll take a picture of it and post later.

This is how it is sold at .31¢ a yard.

These are 1/35 scale hands

also, this product is not self adhesive.
