1/35 Ural Rocket Guntruck

Grinding of turret now is complete, so I’ve started working on details

some details on BRDM’s hull added

I was going to use launcher from Trumpeter’s kit… but it’s failed. Dimensions and shapes are incorrect

…so i have to prepare for another scratchwork

You are doing outstanding work. Will be very intresting to see your scratch launcher! I like it all and will be waiting for the next update.

There are a few aircraft kits that have many options for Soviet ordinance, maybe someone can send you a rocket launcher like the one pictured.

The resent release of the 1/32 scale ‘Frog foot’ is one that has many extra offensive gear, it would be a lot easier than scratch building the multiple launcher. It could be turned & sanded to change the OD from 1/32 scale to 1/35 scale.

Regardless interesting conversion!

Reminds me of the recent news footage showing a ‘Technical’ or rebel Sudanese 4x4 Toyota sporting the same rocket system rigged to the truck box.

I’m going to rework this plastic part (btw, it is 1/35 launcher from Trumpeter’s Mi-24). It will be just time-consuming…

Seems like a lot of work yet I know you can get the inaccurate part whipped sanded, puttied & modified into shape!

If you do not mind waiting I am sure someone has the correct launcher in their stash and would mail it out.

Regardless its one bad (mean) looking truck! Only the Vietnam 6x6 with quad .50 calibers looks as cool.

drilling, drilling, drilling, drilling, drilling, drilling, drilling…

and more holes…

Geez that’s a lot of work to get the launcher done. What exactly is off about the Trumpeter launcher?

to be honest… everything, except the number of rockets. too big length and diameter, incorrect lenght, angle and shape of the nose…

Fair enough. If you don’t mind, where did you find the correct measurements for the rocket pod?

according to launcher dimensions and photo references this graphic is correct:

drilling finished

now I have to scratch ‘barrels’ on the top and put some rockets into lower holes

…rockets

Wow - brass or copper?? How are you forming the rocket tips, the shape looks very consistent.

copper wire turned with a small drill.

KFS- outstanding work! [Y] [Y]

I applaud not only your dedication to accuracy in regards to the rocket launcher but also the outcome. [Y] [Y] Very nice work especially the addition of the rockets.
