Here’s how the veteran is coming along…

Hey Erock,
Lookin good so far my friend…!!! by the way the photos look, it appears you started the weathering process. I like hoew the road wheels have that"used" look.
If it comes w/ a killer system, I’ll take one please[:p][:p]
Cant wait to see the finished build. BTW are you going to set her on a base or do a lil dio?/
Flaps up, Mike
Butz,
Yes, here is the dio it’s going on. Verlinden’s “The Corner” Haven’t done too much work to it yet. I had to putty the heck out of it. Seems that the resin was pretty warpy and the fit wasn’t too good. [xx(]

it looks great
are you not doing the Wittman SO4 now?
Captain,
The 1/16 Tiger is going to be my Wittman project. Still doing research on that particular vehicle.
what have you used for the tracks Modelkasten or Friulmodelli?? and what are the best tracks to get ?
I’ll feep an eye out for photos of SO4 for you tha arnt in the “Tiger Ace” book
Looking great Erock. What have you done so far for weathering? You’ve got a realy nice “heavy metal” look going.
Here is what is on the Tiger so far:
Black artist’s oil wash, Burnt Umber oil wash, Panzer Grey lightened with a small bit of white and then dry brushed over the raised panels and details.
I then dry-brushed Rust on the bolts, some panels, rear and the shell hits. This was followed by applying “Artistic Blending Chalks” Black first for smoke, grease and grime then dark and light brown for a bit of mud and dirt build-up. (This was inspired by Shermanfreak and I’m glad I used it!)
Shot the entire model with Testor’s DullCote.
As for the tracks, they are Tamiya box-stock. I first sprayed Gunmetal, then dry-brushed with Steel and Dull-Coted them. I then added the same colors of chalks from above. I noticed that, if you Dull-Cote over the lighter color chalks, they tend to disappear.
Almost forgot, I used Charcoal pencils to simulate the blast effect on the end of the barrel. (This was another tip from Sherm [;)] )
The photo’s great Erock. That’s going to look deadly menacing sitting there on the corner. Talk about your “boyz in da hood meet Herr Tiger”!
Really nice Erock. Love it…I have had Tamiya’s Tiger 1 Mid Pro staring at me for months, but I have so many projects that I want to do, that my head starts to spin. Add the 3 months it takes me to get a project done, and I will probably not do that Tiger 1 until my unborn child is 3 years old or so.
The weathring looks really nice, so do the tracks. Box-stock huh? Oh and don’t listen to Shermie about the charcoal pencils for the tracks (that is an Allied Armor technique [;)]) Joke…looks great. Look forward to it on that Verlinden Dio base.
Cheers
Rob
Last one for the eve… [xx(]

Hey Erock,
Its starting to come alive…!!!
Flaps up, Mike
Erock, first off, your Tiger looks great!!! Awesome job on it so far!! [:D]
Second, (this is getting freaky or great minds and names think alike [:D] )I have the very same Velinden base sitting out to use with my Marder or my Jadgpanther and one of my building sections is warped pretty bad too. Did you put yours in warm water and try to straighten it?? was it not successful??
Eric
Tiger 1 completed [}:)] (More dust and debris will be added once it’s on the diorama) I never, ever took such care to make a piece look this bad!! [;)]
Hope you Tiger (and non-Tiger fans like it)

Excellent looking piece of work Eric.
It’s going to make an excellent addition to your shelves.
There is only one thing that I would add to just round out the model. There are small wires that run from the back of the smoke ejectors that could be added quite easily.
Thanks for sharing and you just keep working hard making these “bad” models.
Sherman,
I thought about adding those, along with the cables from the headlights. I know the headlight cables ran into a “mushroom” further down the tank.
Does anyone have a reference picture as to where the smoke grenade cables entered the tank?
I think I just answered my own question:

I found it here, along with some other interesting things…
here you go mate[:)]

there both digi camera photos from the bookTiger 1by Feist and Culver
Superb Captain,
THANK YOU! [;)]
http://tiger1.info/EN/Headlights.html for the headlights.
http://tiger1.info/EN/SmokeGrenades.html for the smoke generators:)
Hope these help, and after seeing your Tiger i may just put mine away i do not think i can do the justice that you did for it…![]()
