1/35 Tamiya WWI Mk.IV

I saw this on Perth last night

It sounds like many prayers are about to be answered…

I saw that on there as well. Not my cup of tea, but nice to see one of the mainstream companies doing this, shame that it takes the 100th Anniversary for them to get round to it.

Yeah, some guys in a local club just posted it on Facebook. They’re already speculating if Tamiya might be boxing the old Emhar kit and selling it under their name now…

Let’s hope it’s all new molding!!!

I had not thought of that. Although when Tamiya does that sort of thing, they often include a sprue or two of thier own parts in there. The one gripe Ihave consistantlyheard about the kit is on the tracks. If Tamiya replaced those with some link & length of their own, that would be a step up.

Nothing on the Tamiya new releases page, so it is May at the earliest.

Yes, according to Perth it is supposed to be officially “announced” at the Shizuoka model show next month.

I just hope it’s a brand new tooling and not a rebox.

If that is the case, I am sure that many folks will be quite happy.

There is a big thread about it on Armorama, and many are trashing it without yet any details on the kit yet.Very amusing thread that also got in some Dragon-Bashing as well as whipping up on Tamiya.

Not my genre, but something to consider,I would get that big German one if Tamiya ever came out with it though.

It’s amazing how many folks online start bashing kits before they are even released. no wonder these model companies play their cards so close to their chest… Jeez guys, wait until the kit is out before you say anything definitive about it. Speculation does not help.

Before getting a new kit, or even an old one, I look for either in box or build reviews before deciding. Some people jump the gun before knowing all the facts.

Yeap, I’m guardedly optimistic here. I’m assuming this is a new tooling kit till I see otherwise.

English translations of the Tamiya information on both HLJ and HobbySearch JP depict it as a new tooled kit with a motor and pre-assembled gear box option.

Motorized?! Here kitty kityy kitty… let me introduce you to tank fright[6]

Motorized option? I hope I’m wrong but this doesn’t sound too promising. :pout:

Agreed, makes it sound toy like.hard to do functional running gear without losing some accuracy

Looks intresting to me!

I agree. Looks like they have a set of “Tommies” coming out as well.

I am a little dumbfounded that Tamiya would go retrograde and include a motorization feature. I saw an on-line post that had some pictures and text describing the kit (in Japanese), and it did have a big splashy note saying the kit will be motorized, so I guess it will be so. I did notice that the gun sponsons appeared to have angled rear plates, so hopefully the kit will not be an Emhar repop or mold mod. I had seen some rumors posted a while ago about the Tamiya team poring over the Bovington tank, so hopefully they have tooled their own kit. Motorization misgivings aside, I am pleased that a modern tool kit of the Mk IV is on the way. I’d better finish up my Emhar Mk IV Female before July!

maybe they figure that with all running gear hidden they can motorise it invisibly? I dunno though.
