After building the 1/48 scale, I’ve built the larger one. I really like the look of this tank, even though I’ve read it wasn’t that great as a fighting unit. I was going to use some pigments on it, but after applying Flory washes, I think it looks done.
Nice build and nice job on the weathering, the only thing I can suggest is since the muffler is so prominent perhaps some texture on it to rough it up a little, but thats it,only my [2cnts]
I’ll agree with Tojo though. Pigments should do the trick. ‘Stucco’ paint from a art supply store and a little dry-brushing with a lighter shade of ‘rust’ should work too. Again, it’s one of those things you have to fiddle around with until you get something that works for you.
to add texture,I sometimes brush some liquid cement on it and before it dries stipple it up a little,or a little Mr Surfacer 500 and the same process.I guess if you dont have those, then as was mentioned, you can build up some pigments on it for texture.
Great job on this 38T, dazz. I do have to agree with Tojo, about a little texture on that external muffler. Especially since the rest of this light tank is excellently weathered. All in all a great job.
Lookin’ nice! The Germans made Hetzers on those 38 chassis, didn’t they?
As for the muffler - I think if you took some rusty paint (like a mix of gun metal and brown for example. Or orange - that works as light coloured rust, too. Best both) and applied it with a sponge, that would probably do the trick.
