1/35 Tamiya Chi-Ha "Abandoned Warrior"

My first ever serious diorama…
The kit is the 1/35 Tamiya Chi-Ha. I used R Model metal tracks on it.

The photographer is from AK’s Photographer set

Rather than spending a fortune on diorama paper plants, I purchased 3D files so that I can use them as much as I want and whatever size I want.

3D Filament printed items -

Cabbage/Fan palms, trunks and leaves.

Other palm tree trunks

Large tree next to tank.

3D Resin printed items -

Banana trees

Monstera plants

Dragon trees

Fern/palms in creek bed

10 birds

Binturong

Malayan tapir

Leaves on large tree next to tank

Vine leaves and flowers.

The creek is near dry, with a hint of water, using AK Still water. I really enjoyed the process and am happy with the result.

Grant, do you do process shots of your builds? If you do, you should consider submitting a story to FSM.

Hey Tim, I have done some magazine work in the past, I will shoot you a message sometime on what builds I am going to be doing and see if it’s something that will suit for submission and can do an article and photo process :+1:

Looking forward to it, Grant!

You are a man on FIRE with these builds of yours Grant. I’ve not delved into the 3D printing business (aside from purchasing 3D printed items) but you sure made good use of your 3D printed subjects in this set up here. That is a truly great diorama buddy.

How long does a build like this take you?

Congrats on getting the offer for a story coverage with FSM as well. Quite an honor.

Excellent concept for this diorama. Nice 3D printing most of your add ons, but what makes this diorama is your rust job on the Chi-Ha and your groundwork and creek. Very well done. BTW, congrats on the story offer from FSM.

I worked on this over several months on and off. I did other models in between. Too big a build for me to do it all in one go

I can only imagine about the “too big a build to do it all in one go” bit. Such a good turn out in the end.

Great diorama friend… Great details and layout. It definitely sucked me into the story. Well done!

Well, I’m not sure how I missed this one before, but wow! What a fun diorama to study. Love all the little details, and the extreme “weathering” of the tank itself is of course superb. Really nice!!

Great job on your first diorama. 3D printing was a good choice.
