1/35 T-90

OK OK, I know an injection moulded T-90 in 1/35 does not exist. But are there any resin kits or conversions (for the Tamiya T-72 maybe?) If so, please provide a link where I may purchase the conversion. Thanks.

A Russian company named Zvezda makes a T-90 kit in 1/35 scaleTheres also some conversion from sp designs and Terre modell also eduard and barrel depot have some conversion stuff also for this tank. http://hsgalleries.com/t90iz_1.htm

There’s a conversion kit for a T-72 or T-80 kit (sorry, I don’t remember which the T-90 is a development of) available – it’s resin. I forget who makes it. Try a websearch, or contact RJ Products and see if they know.

I have seen T-90 conversions advertised by Kirin and Terre Models. Unfortunately they aren’t true T-90 kits but are actually T-72BM conversions. Keep hope alive for a T-90.

Terre is the one I’m thinking of. Are you saying that these conversions don’t correctly make a T-90?

From what I have read and seen of these conversion built up, the Kirin kit makes a good T-72BM kit. Some of the pieces in the Terre Models are copies of the Kirin kit pieces and would have to be modified or scratchbuilt. The Terre Models conversion is a good place to start but the glacis plate would have to modified. One of the main differences between a T-72BM and a T-90 is the Shtora system on the turret. The Kirin kit doesn’t have them while one of the Terre Models conversion set also doesn’t have them. Some of the differences between a T-72BM and T-90 are the glacis armor, wind sensor and the side skirt armor is of a different size. I had the Kirin conversion and compared it with a Terre Models conversion to see the similarities and differences. If you want to build a T-90, start with the Terre Models conversion and make sure you have good reference material to scratchbuild missing parts and to improve some of the kit pieces.

cool!!! Any idea where I could get this conversion? Or the zvezda kit? Thanks for the help guys.

I googled and found it immediately on the missionmodels.com site. I found two conversions there from Terre – T90 and T90S – maybe kaleu can tell ya if the S is even closer to the real thng than the simple S conversion.

I compared the Kirin T-90 to the Terre Models T-90 and this was about a year ago. AFAIK, the T-90s has the same parts as the T-90 but adds the Shtora system, more reactive armor blocks and the T-80 commander’s cupola. I’m not sure but I also think new mud flaps are also in this kit. I now wish I had kept the Kirin conversion as I would like to make a T-72BM. Oh well, maybe it will turn up at a show or on Ebay.

What about the Zvezda T-90 kit? How accurate is this?

I didn’t think it was out yet? If so, I want to get it. Zvezda should also do a BTR-90 for us russophiles.
