Started this one while waiting on the postal carrier.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the level of detail. The “chocks” for the wheels are there along with a good deal of wood textures. Knots and grain are all present and in variety.
The build is pretty quick with 4 steps and fewer than 2 dozen parts. The very thinly molded step brackets ended up breaking and they and the anchor rings were replaced with aluminum wire. The molded on brackets were all cleaned and edges rescribed for clarity and depth.
After assembly I shot it with Mr Surfacer brown
followed by a base coat of yellow. Sealed with a dull coat of Vallejo then pinwashed with burnt umber and black oils. I had to remove the axle and wheels to get a proper painting.
Once this is sealed up will be adding drybrushing. Then a coat of worn and chipped paint. Detail painting and maybe a pitch fork and a scythe.
The chipping solution was applied and allowed to dry then this was followed by a top coat of nice soft pastel green.
Using a toothbrush paint chipping began on the box of the cart, followed by a fine pastel brush for spokes and the inside of the cart. Then a dull coat was applied to seal it up.
Next the metal rims were painted a dark blue black mix then drybrushed with pencil graphite. A wash of burnt sienna was added around the rim and wheels where rust would be prevalent. This same wash was lightly blended onto the face of the rim to replicate light surface rust.
The MiniArt kit is a cool little offering that’s gonna find it’s way into a diorama.
