1/35 M74 Tank Retriever

I’m not an armor builder very often, but a friend bought a real one of these a few years back and I got interested. The Tamiya M4A3E8 kit and a Legend resin conversion set were used to produce it. I also added Fruil tracks and my own decals so the markings would be correct for the one down the street. I was able to make it so the mast could be in the working or travel position without too much trouble, just some care in building, really. There was some head scratching because the Legend instructions are just photos with some captions, and they used the Takom kit, but in the end with the real article to look at it worked out.

This was my first set of Fruil tracks and I am led to believe they are more work than others. There are 5 parts to each link. I spent days on them, all the while wondering if they would be flexible and if they would stay together, but in the end all seems to be well.

The real thing:

Looks great. The only change I would make is the hatch interiors. They should also be OD green, or whatever color the exterior is. The white hatch interiors really stick out like a soar thumb. Great job integrating the Legend set with the kit too.

Yeah, Stik already dinged me for that. The Legend set had them in white, and dummy about armor that I am I went with it. I will fix it!

Nicely done all around.

Thank you, Templar.

Well done and factory fresh look. Cool!!

Thats very nicely done John, would not believe you don’t build armour. Most of the Fril sets i have used only have 1 piece for each link, don’t let these ones put you off.

John, well done, excellent workmanship matching the photograph. You have an impressive gallery of aircraft models too.

Thanks, Brandon, Martin, and Harold. Much appreciated.
